Now, he might not be at all ready to be a good guard this year. But that doesn't make him a bust. It might make the team's short-term plans a bust, but that's not the player's fault.

Absolutely a crap shoot no matter his ranking by anyone. Till he sets foot on that field when it counts his ranking is as good as anyone else who is a rookie. Draftniks get rankings wrong all of the time.Therein lies the rub, sort of.
Don't recall any mock drafts (proably viewed up to 3 dozen) that had Tyler Smith being a first round pick for Dallas - or any other team.

Draftwire stated Smith would be a day 2 selection = no. 50, although they added his upside could push him into a late 1st-round pick.
