What does the "active/non-football injury" list mean? Is he active or not?

No surprise.
Never heard of "active" PUP or NFI.

I been saying this all off season.

At least Cox is not on the list.

But Drummond and Mosely who were long shots anyway, is not good for them.
I think some on here was saying Hansford had a shot at LB, but now it depends when he can get back on the field.
Maybe all 3 are just minor precautionary type injuries.

Me too. I still think LVE has a little something to help. Parsons, Cox, LVE can be decent for us at LB.

LVE definitely looked better down the stretch, but I think he’s a short-timer in Dallas, while Cox is going to be here for a while. That’s a big factor to me.

I’m also if the opinion that Cox is the perfect compliment to Parsons in his outstanding coverage skills.

I know the three UDFAs Drummond, Mosely, and Hansgord really want to hit the field and show what they got, but their PUP list designation sort of prevents them from rushing back and perhaps extending their injury/ delaying their full recovery.

I is called active NFI list during the preseason because a player can come off the NFI list at anytime.

Once they cut the roster to 53, he will be on the reserve-NFI list which means he cannot play the first 8 games of the season.

Summary: Active should be called unrestricted-NFI because there a no restrictions about when the player can be activated.

LVE has healed mentally and physically from having his neck fused. That’s a big surgery and takes a while to not only heal physically but mentally. For someone that runs head first into a car accident many many times a game I am sure it’s scary for a while. He did well last year, especially with Parsons playing with him. LVE don’t have to be the only stud on the LBs.

sometimes the teams put them off the pasture to save them from other teams poaching , is this something like that?

Players on the active/PUP list count against the 90-man offseason roster and can be activated at any time during training camp and ahead of 53-man roster cuts. If a player remains on the active/PUP list at the time of 53-man roster cuts, they can be placed on the reserve/PUP list to start the season. Being placed on the PUP list at the start of the season means Michael Gallup will miss the first 4 games of the season. He can practice with the team during that time, but he now would have to wait until Week 5 to play.

Being placed on the active/non-football injury list means Non-football injury and non-football illness (NFI) are roster designations used in the National Football League (NFL) for players who are unable to practice as a result of conditions unrelated to football, or injuries that did not occur during NFL games or practices. They are similar to the physically unable to perform and injured reserve lists.
