For 11 long and emotional minutes, Kyler Murray stood at a podium Thursday and defended himself and his work ethic as an athlete.

You couldn’t blame him. Earlier this week, an addendum in his recently agreed upon $230 million contract ($160 million guaranteed) with the Arizona Cardinals was made public. It required Murray complete four hours of “independent study” during the week before each game. This is in addition to studying with coaches and teammate

Lol! This guy.

Again with the 5'10 BS? There's zero chance that I'm only 2 inches taller than him. Drew Brees is 5'10, he didn't look nearly as short.

On the contract, the story said it was not enforceable. If they wanted to enforce it, they could just require him to video tape it.

Obviously they had that in there due to his attitude off the field, and on the field body language. It points to being immature.

Guilt can move mountains…….so can the feign outraged sports media:rolleyes:

buyers remorse in 3,2.1….

They've put millions at risk with obvious concerns about his dedication and were stupid enough to make that public?

Think there aren't some provisions in some of these big contracts in all sports that neither the player or club wants public?

I am not a Murray fan but he has a right to be upset about that going public.

When Booger let it be known that as part of Romo's new deal, he would get to be in on the game plan on Tuesday's, that was a reward, that was what Romo wanted. And also a way for him to show he was getting a little something extra from his QB for that money.

Coach, just who made it public? What it the team or was it his agent who fed it to the media? I haven’t seen the source for this leak in that article

wasn’t it Randy Gregory’s agent that leaked the term of his contract too? I can’t see either team leaking this kind of stuff but I could be mistaken

If Justin Herbert had this clause put in his contract we all know BSPN and other media wouldn’t say a word about it. Of course Herbert wouldn’t need one because he’s got a solid work ethic and scored a 39 on the Wonderlic while slow minded Murray scored a 20…….some people just require more game film study than others and must be forced to into it.

not much to ask for 230 Million

If he's truly not doing his homework and dedicating himself to the game and the team, then no, he absolutely does not have the right to be upset.

Couldn't be said any better!!!!!!!!!!!

You think Ari put this clause in even though he was working hard and watching game film and trying to get better?

5'10"?

Just looked it up, and that is his combine measurement. No way. Something is amiss.

shabby, I agree, it is irresponsible of team management if they let this out.

Didn't Dallas make a similar suggestion to Romo when he signed his 1st big contract after he became a starter?

I think that was more media created than actual.
Romo was well known to be a film room rat; never leaving until basically kicked out.
Not sure what else they could want.

Now I remember some Jerry blathering about Romo having more input into the offense but then that is Jerry....

Kyler doesn't watch film or read contracts.

Any man that has an ounce of pride in himself and his craft would have INSISTED that the “independent study” remain in the contract stay intact, once it went public……..not happening with that guy.

Yeah I know. He's 5'7 or 5'8 tops. There are pics with him next to people 5'10 and he is clearly shorter. 5'10 is what he has on his dating profile.

His official combine measurement was 5-10 1/8. There is just no way.

He really wasn't.

He really wasn't.
I remember what BP said about him when he became a starter; how the kid really did not have the talent of most QBs but he worked hard enough to out play them.
