NO you nailed it. You run them out of it. That is the best way. They are daring you to run. And if you cant, like we couldnt last year, its trouble. Then yes, you have to dink and dunk or have enough time to challenge the deeper zones or attack the middle in the passing game.

Once the injuries throttled beset the line and the RB room the Cowboys weren't going to run anybody out of anything. At that point it became incumbent upon Moore and Dak to utilize the short passing game to matriculate the ball down the field (R.I.P. Hank). Dak talked repeatedly about his lack of patience against that look and he cannot repeat that mistake this year. He needs to take the short stuff over the middle that will present itself and when the defense dares offers him 6-10 yards of open field he needs to take it. Go get 4-5 yards and slide if it's 1st or 2nd down and if it's 3rd down go get the first down. Getting greedy and taking a deep shot on 3rd and 3 is stupid and standing there patting the ball for 5 seconds waiting for a receiver to find the soft spot in the zone on 3rd and long ends up in sacks too often. Hopefully there won't be quite as much shuffling along the o-line and both running backs won't get dinged up and the running game won't abandon us anyway. But the problem might be that the OC can't wait to get away from the run and any excuse will do for him.

My problem is when a Defense can sit on you with an umbrella zone the WR screen is going to get blown up...I could be wrong but so far i see very littl bunch sets setting up rub routes (yes the work on umbrella zones and man) trying to force plays between the level zones...again Km basically ran the same system watching the Defenses (that had the talent to do so) completley fill all his lanes in. Dak needs to be helping this for sure but KM has got to be willing to change it up.

Despite the success they had with it, the Cowboys way overused that play last season. But that was not what I was talking about as the short passing game. I was referring to slants, quick in and out cuts. The quick swing passes to the backs.. Bill Walsh turned the swing pass to the backs into his running game after he figured out that a 33 year old OJ Simpson after an ACL injury had no "juice" left (pun intended) and the rest of his backs were decidedly "meh" until they drafted Roger Craig. But I'm with you on the use of bunch sets and rub routes to create openings and passing lanes for you. Umbrella/shell coverage is going to make sure you can't throw it down the field. So the key becomes patience. Again for both Dak AND Moore.

Why are you telling me this?

Prove with accurate long balls , please.

You do realize that Dak has been rated in the top two or three in the league on longball throws for pretty much the last 4 seasons right?

Long ball throws , yes , but Accuracy wise - a la wilson ?

Also I am tired of his waiting for WRs to get visible separation, ( too many checkdowns to Schultz )

Good he's been training, but let's see whether it sticks or he reverts back to his old self under pressure.

I remember when Tim Tebow was hiring the best quarterback trainers and gurus to help him with his mechanics. He had glowing comments about how he's changed his throwing motion, etc. and so on.

And then ... the games began. And then ... he reverted back to his old self under pressure.

It's very, very difficult to change patterns that have been established long ago.

But we'll see. Maybe Dak is an anomaly.

His hesitancy to throw into what his mind perceives to be "covered" is a fair criticism. Still I would take Dak's refusal to force the ball over Romo's gun slinging any day. As he matured in the game Romo found that balance between gun slinging and taking care of the ball. I expect Dak to learn and move towards that middle ground that Romo found as well. Both had to find it.. they just had to come from different ends of the spectrum. I just don't agree with the longball accuracy criticism. You can't be rated one of the best and not be accurate on those throws. That's not how the ratings work. Sure he has had some misses. But apparently most QBs have even more misses than he does for him to rank that highly.

If Dak throws less than 51 TDs you delete your account and never make a new one?

Put up or shut up.

Show us how much you really believe.

if the cowboys win more than 8 games (which you said they wouldn’t) will you delete your account and never make a new one?

put up or shut up

show us how much you really believe

17 game season. Several sh1te teams on the schedule, a couple to be played twice. Every chance of stats Prescott doing just that unless he gets injured again and fold like a pack of cards in the play offs like last season.

Anyway, the claim is he's got a stronger arm now. Remember that when he doesn't this season.

It's all talk. What they do best.

I've never felt arm strength was a problem for Dak. He just inexplicably forgets how to play QB in stretches IMO, and forgets to scramble.

I don't know if I can add the links into this website since we try not to link to other sites without clearance, but dong a web search will show that Romo in an article written by Florio in 2013 shared similar statements.
