I think you should watch it again. The QB starts going backward when the helmet is the only thing pushing on him.with his head? No

Agreed.
It has been speculated that NFL officials earn $205,000 a year ( link ). How can the league ever attract more better qualified officials at $205K/year?If I was an important man, I would change that.
All my officials would be full time. It's a high paying, prestigious career, no need for a second job or side hustle, at least not on my time. There are millions of dollars at stake, and their calls have widespread effects. This means they are officiating everything from OTAs through the superbowl. They would all be trained together on subjective calls, until everyone saw these calls through one lens. Perfection is not expected, but the wide spread variance among crew philosophies would not be tolerated.
The officials would be sent out biweekly to work with teams on film, acceptable techniques, and what constitutes a penalty. Their job would not only be to call what's on the field, but to help educate players, and hopefully prevent the absolute disruption of game flow we currently experience.
My officials would be highly trained, year round. Just like everyone else works throughout the year, they are no different. Players train, and I'm busy eating cheetos and watching film. They need to honing their craft as well.
The NFL has an officiating problem, but because they are so profitable and Goodell lacks the forward thinking skills, they sit on their hands and do nothing to improve the product. Once again, screw you Goodell.

The league is a multi-billion dollar industry but it pays refs nearly three times less than the player average minimum. That's nuts.
Hell, $205K a year should be plenty! It's not like they have to work out for hours a day, or practice, or risk major injury (for the most part). Got a link on how to get a job as a ref?It has been speculated that NFL officials earn $205,000 a year ( link ). How can the league ever attract more better qualified officials at $205K/year?

Their jobs should be full-time though. They should be adequately compensated for dedicated employment. Makes zero sense refs are part-time, getting paid a fifth of a mil every year, while Roger Goodell sits on the other end of the spectrum, hauling in $60 million plus.Hell, $205K a year should be plenty! I wouldn’t say NO chance, but I believe the subjective nature of this new initiative will render our defense less effective. I think we’ll lose a game or two because of it. Sure, it’ll affect everyone, but since they watch the Cowboys more closely, I think it’s negative impact will be greater, as far as timing goes. There will be ten teams ranked at the top ten of defensive rankings. Are you saying Dallas has no chance of fielding a top ten defense because of how the calls are made? I am asking because other defenses will be getting the same calls more or less.
Guess I will put a pin in this and wait-and-see how the defense ends up ranked this season.I wouldn’t say NO chance, but I believe the subjective nature of this new initiative will render our defense less effective. However, that disparity is not isolated solely to their industry. And it would not be good for me to expound upon that aspect.

That's the best paying part time job I've ever heard of.Their jobs should be full-time though. They should be adequately compensated for dedicated employment. Try a third!Work a part time job for 205k? I’ll take it! How many people do you know work full time for less than HALF of that, on a job they hate?
That's the best paying part time job I've ever heard of.
And you'll have the softest hands out of all your friends!…..perhaps you aren’t aware of a Fluffers salary?…..it’s an AFL-CIO position.
it’s a horrible job but the hours are good.
These are good questions that I will not be getting into. They do not address securing officiating good enough for a multi-billion dollar industry though.Work a part time job for 205k? I’ll take it! How many people do you know work full time for less than HALF of that, on a job they hate?
