Here’s a good video breaking down the line including Smith against Cincy, and I have to say it’s just remarkable. Smith did not have good tape at tackle in college even against fairly poor competition. He showed every major flaw you can exhibit at tackle. I thought he would struggle mightily this year. And yet somehow he’s performing not just well but exceptionally well.

College coaching vs NFL. I know we hate Philbin but he’s a tenured O-line coach in this league. He’s probably taught Smith 10x more than what he learned at Tulsa.

I like smith also and I think he's going to be a very good tackle but for this yr,if the team truly wants the best 5 out there, Peter's would be starting Lt and Smith at guard, imo

Imagine if we had a power blocking O-Line coach. Bring the nasty out. Let’s get Colombo back. We can let philibin go..
If he were playing G i'd be all for that. You don't always want the nasty power guy at LT with todays speedrushers. You need an LT that is balanced and light on their feet with the ability to get nasty when needed.

Also can we actually give Philbin a fair chance for once? The guys Oline was a train wreck last season, but here we are week two talking about how much better Steel has been, we are on our 3rd string G, our rookie LT has surpassed expectations already, and even Biadasz has shown some signs of life, but still all we can focus on is firing the guy? Lets actually give this guy a chance here.

Agreed Philbin deserves a lot of credit thus far.

The thing I LOVE seeing in this video that I didn't really pick up on before...was the running of counter tre's. We ran it to both sides using both G's and Ts.

This is something I don't remember us doing before....am I mistaken?

Looks like the offensive line is gelling, they need to be in sync . Takes practice and time. Go Cowboys

All true. Nobody thought he would be able to make this kind of impact even at G , let alone OT. We were just hoping he wouldn't be a penalty machine like he was in college.
