If it wasn't for our Defense, Rush would suck

I mean the OP isnt completely wrong, but we are going to an extreme here with an obvious motive. Everyone with any football knowledge knows that the strength of this team is it's defense, and that is going to be the case no matter who is quarterback.

Cooper Rush has shown the ability to run an efficient offense, limit the minus plays, get rid of the ball quickly, and take well-timed shots down the field. He has certainly been a bit of a bus driver, but man is that bus running smoothly down the interstate right now.

I think the better question is what is better for the Dallas Cowboys, the bus driver who will do a nice steady 65 and stay in the lane, or Corvette driver who has bad spark plugs?

to some of you. Rush is playing well, but with our defense allowing just 1 TD a game, it makes things easier for Rush and I'm glad of it. He had a few bad throws....two ints called back because of penalties. But, he's driving the bus. The offense is not on fire and if it wasn't for our defense the Rush love wouldn't be like it is. But I'm happy we have him for a backup.

..haha... I thought about that yesterday. Those 2 int's were big calls for Dallas. No doubt the D is helping this team win.

Not throwing Rush under the bus, he's doing a good job floating the ship.

If Dak gets his head straight, he is the better QB.

The 2000 Ravens won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer as quarterback and the 1985 Bears won a Super Bowl with Jim McMahon as quarterback, yet those teams were known for their great defenses.

That said, it would be hard back then to say either of those quarterbacks "suck" because they led teams to Super Bowl wins when other "great" quarterbacks never did.

I do not care if the Cowboys have a "great" quarterback. I do not care if Dak is better than Rush or Rush is better than Dak. I do not care if they win with Dak, Rush or a player-to-be-named-later.

I do not care if the Cowboys win a Super Bowl because of their offense, defense and/or special teams. I do not care if they get lucky or other teams are unlucky.

The only thing I care about is winning in the playoffs and the Super Bowl. The route they endure to accomplish those things is irrelevant to me as long as they win.

How did Dak look against Tampa? Defense held Tampa to 19 points and he still sucked. He put up 3 points on a defense that just gave up 41 points at home to KC.

The next two weeks are going to expose the truth about the Cowboys offense and defense, particularly the game against the Eagles. I have no doubt the Cowboys defense can pressure most QBs and I think they will get pressure on Stafford this week. But the Eagles present several problems for the Cowboys on offense and defense. That's the test that will give us a true measurement of where they are.

QB's get too much credit for wins and too much blame for losses.

Rush is 11th in the NFL in passer rating now. He isn't lighting the world on fire but for a back up, he has been more than fine.

QBR, possibly a more accurate stat, has Rush 4th in the NFL at 74.

Last season, in arguably his best statistical season, finished 11th at a QBR of 60.5

I guess our 40M QB didn't get the memo when the defense only allowed 1 TD against Tampa Bay.
yeah the op didnt see that game or ignored it lol.

The idea is to control games, not make mistakes that cost you game, and to win the games.,
Rush and Off only need to score enough to win, thats it.

2 true tests are coming, Rams and Phil, I am curious to see how rush does in those games.

If dak were playing, I would not see dallas being 3-1 right now.
Also I would not think dak could win both or maybe even one of the next 2.

So why expect cooper to win both !??????? I think 1-1 for next 2 would be the best dak could do, so thats my goal for rush.
If he manages to win both games, then somehow he is just better than dak.

Rush is driving the bus well. Have to give him his due their. Not so great at 3rd and long, however. Has come up clutch late in games. I would be interested to see how he does if he needed to really air it out in a high scoring affair. Threw for over 300 last year against the Vikings.

He may have more arm strength, but he's afraid to use it. Otherwise, Rush is better at reading the defense, progressing through reads, and getting the ball out quickly. I'm not really sure how Dak is the better QB, to be completely honest.
Then again, I've never been all that impressed with Dak after 2016. I've consistently maintained that he's an average QB, and he has yet to do anything to prove otherwise.

These Dak fans with their BS "if it wasn't for this or that Rush would suck" or the "wait until Dak comes back" threads are pathetic. Instead of celebrating what Rush has accomplished it's not real wins because Dak isn't starting.

I'm a big Dak fan but I have also very happy with the job Rush has done. 1st and foremost I'm a Cowboys fan. I hate coming here seeing the Dak hate just as much as I hate seeing these threads on Rush or Romo. I do understand as do most in the NFL Dak is the starting QB that is not spin it is reality. Dallas is not going to bench Dak because we have people who dislike Dak. This was the #1 scoring offense in the NFL last year yet the critics whine about it, those do not count because of who were were playing, guess what Rush has played those same teams and while he has helped this team win, had Dak put up those same numbers people would coming down on Dak.

Dak was celebrated his rookie season because he played within his means and allowed the defense and rushing game to flourish. That is the type of QB he is, not the QB that passes near 600 times and while putting up personal stats does not equate to playoff success.

He needs to learn something from Rush about how to play the position for Dallas.

I don't want to see Dak put up 40 or 50 throws in a game and quite honestly I don't want to see any QB on the Cowboys putting up that many throws. Again Dak and this offense leads the NFL in scoring right now we are getting by but in the end we are winning. That is Great vs Washington and NY, but we got some games that we will likely have to be more than close to the vest. Like you I don't care about personal stats, they are great as long as the team wins. If you held Rush to the same standard you hold Dak to then many here would be complaining about how Dak did not play well despite the win.

its the defense and commitment to running the ball and its not just about rushing yards, but commitment to run and forcing the other team to play the run. that allows us to use play action, which has succeeded.
