In the article about Jones.....

"He believes in corporate good governance and wants accountability on the financial goals tied to Roger's bonus," said a league source familiar with Jones' thinking. "He is sensitive to awarding a big bonus to Roger before he performs and earns it."

This apparently applies to commissioners and not quarterbacks.

Dak earned his contract. He proved himself for 5 years before receiving a big contract. Was Dak overpaid? Yes. But Dak did earn his big pay.

I would love it if just once, we had a head coach with enough juice to tell Jerry the same exact thing. It would immediately change my feelings about my fandom which hasn't been the same for a long time because of him.
We had two coaches years ago who did...Landry and Johnson. Jerry has the "smartest man in the room" syndrome and will continue until his son takes over. The only way this changes is if the house comes crumbling down. A few bad seasons and hopefully a GM is hired. Until then, it's status quo.

A former boss of mine was friends with Dan Rooney. He said while Rooney was neither a fan of Jones nor Kraft, Rooney once said “at least you knew where you stood with Jerry, he’d tell you exactly how he felt. With Kraft, he’d tell you one thing, then stab you in the back a minute later.”
On the flip side , Kraft was smart enough to hire Bill Bellichek and then get out of the way Results matter

Jerry would never hire a head coach that would tell him to F off, the closest we got was Parcells and Jerry admitted he only hired him to get the new stadium approved.

But yeah, it would be nice if we had a real head coach.
Jones is known for making flippant remarks. Did Parcells add value and glamour to the team making the move to Arlington? From a simple minded perception, sure, and you might as well throw in star football players.
However, the fundamental justification that the stadium was built in Arlington was the obvious potential of the Dallas Cowboys playing there substantially increasing sports and associated revenue and overall market share for Arlington and private commerce in the area.
Obviously Jones retained Parcells for more than just his name and head coaching glitz. Parcells stayed on for 4 seasons and then called it a head coaching career.

Just when I think there is no other way that the Dak haters can shoehorn their anti-Dak agenda into a totally unrelated thread, they come up with another one.

What's Goodell gonna do if they offer him less?.... Walk?.... To where?

Goodell doesn't have to work. The NFL has to convince him to take the job. He's worth around 200M but thats probably a low figure considering the NFL pays him about 64M a year.

Goodell probably wants to hang around for one more contract to make Jerry's life hell.

Goodell is the owner's bag man. He runs around destroying evidence and keeping the owners and the NFL out of the headlines. He is the NFL Fixer. Michael Clayton of the NFL.
