In the article about Jones.....

"He believes in corporate good governance and wants accountability on the financial goals tied to Roger's bonus," said a league source familiar with Jones' thinking. "He is sensitive to awarding a big bonus to Roger before he performs and earns it."

This apparently applies to commissioners and not quarterbacks.
It also does not apply to owners who only achieve in the P&L and not on the field.

The owners meetings are the only thing that keeps the Dallas GM and his VP son off of their weekly radio shows? I wish they would schedule more of these annually!

A former boss of mine was friends with Dan Rooney. He said while Rooney was neither a fan of Jones nor Kraft, Rooney once said “at least you knew where you stood with Jerry, he’d tell you exactly how he felt. With Kraft, he’d tell you one thing, then stab you in the back a minute later.”
... then seek out a "massage" for HIS back while yours is bleeding. ;) :(

Jones is concerned that the triggers for Goodell's proposed bonus pool in a new contract will be too vague and not connected to a strict set of financial goals and metrics without a more rigorous review, sources said.

"He believes in corporate good governance and wants accountability on the financial goals tied to Roger's bonus," said a league source familiar with Jones' thinking. "He is sensitive to awarding a big bonus to Roger before he performs and earns it."

Sounds good to me. Shrug.

Its sad to see how much respect Jerry has lost among the owners. He used to have friends and play power broker. Now, he is alone on an island.
The vote on this issue was 31-1. The one was likely Jones. Seems like Jerry use to have a lot more influence with other owners. His differences with Goodell are popular with the Cowboy fans here on the board but that is about as far as it apparently goes.

Jerry was the loan vote. He is no longer able to effectively lobby other owners and build consensus for the issues he favors. I think the falling out goes back to Goodells last contract. It seems Kraft and Kroenke are the power brokers now.

Cowboys have7 gotten hosed by arbitrary rulings so I understand the frustration. I think some owners are just afraid of the repercussions or see the revenue growth and assume Roger is doing a good job.

Jerry is such a clown. The Jones family is a clown show. It really sucks that the great Dallas Cowboys have to be saddled by these idiots.
