Perhaps the most effective blitz day in Cowboys history

I watch a lot of old Cowboys games from the 70s and early 80s at work. The Cowboys DLine would beat the crap out of QBs blitzing or not. I remember watching a game where the Cowboys pummeled Jaworski. He was stumbling around and seemingly in a daze by halftime. That kind of abuse is not allowed in today's game.

Now I'll watch this video, because I don't remember a lot of times the Cowboys blitzed a lot.

great commentating from the legends. One thing I loved was the lack of look-at-me crap. Thurman intercepted the ball and went to the sideline as he had done before. Today is too full of bull crap.
Downs with the sack and all he did was slap some hands. Wow no bs superman look at my crap or running down to the endzone from a regular play.
Walls with the pick, no WWE celebration, what the crap. Walls with the second INT, no WWE bull crap. What the crap no promoting the "me" crap.


This was when football was real and was fun to watch.

I wonder why the NFL changed the numbering system. I liked it when you could tell positions by numbers..

In 1985, we sacked Warren Moon 12 times, picked him off 4 times, yet managed to only win by a score of 17-10.

12 sacks is the most since the merger, only accomplished 4 times.

On several of those plays I saw a LB or DB step past the line but then not actually rush the passer.
- I assume that statistically it is considered a blitz if a 5th defender crosses the line.

There were definitely some blitzes in that video, but I don't think there were as many as the stats indicate.

I don't like the single digit numbers for non QBs/Kickers/Punters.

It would be very difficult for all WRs & TEs to have a number in the eighties in the modern era.
- Some teams carry 6 WRs and 4 TEs.

The NFL went to a standardized jersey numbering systems in 1973; although existing players were grandfathered and didn't have to change.
- Lance Alworth was #19 in the sixties and early seventies.

In 2004 the rule for WRs was changed to allow 10-19.

In 2021 the rules were relaxed for many positions.
- The changes included the addition of numbers 1–19 and 80–89 for running backs, 1–9 and 20–49 for wide receivers, 1–39 for tight ends and linebackers, and 1–19 for defensive backs.

I saw this the other day and dang near posted it. The part I love the most is when the camera angle is sort of above the defensive line and watching Randy White blow up the guard.

And I have seen a bunch of videos like this. NFL Films. YouTube. And there have been some remarkable plays by the defensive line.

But at this point, the Lawrence goal line strip of the ball while taking on four guys is the best ever.

Bob Lilly used to be triple teamed back in the day. But Lawrence was on an other level during that play.
