Eagles own Saints 1st rd pick

Problem is Roseman is renowned for his salary cap knowledge. He just moves money around, and constantly is able to resign whoever he wants. They keep saying sooner or later he'll have to "pay his debts" from constantly pushing money to future years. Sounds good...except They’ve been saying that for 10 years now.
They literally were in salary cap hell for the past two years which is why they sucked. I’ll give credit where it’s due they got out of it rather quick.

I agree with you on Hurts and Goedert. I don’t see star when I see Davis or Devonte.

He spent three 1st round picks and a second on receivers over the last few years….just to end up with one star and Devonte Smith.
Davis has been dominating against the run, But it’s still early for him… Yeah looking at Devante stats they’re not as good as what I expected… I remember the highlights of one of their games, he had like 1,000,000,000 yard receiving

Smart teams dont trade established QB's for lottery tickets unless the relationship is fractured like Wilson and Watson
I don’t know if the word smart applies… I agree that most teams, probably all tesms, don’t trade away star qbs… But I wonder if things are going to start to shift away from that. I have heard recently the concept of graduating quarterbacks the debated by front offices

Currently holding the 6th pick in the first round right now with the Saints sitting at 3-6. With the team they've assembled right now this could definitely be a case of the rich getting richer in our division.
If Jerry had such a high pick he'd get a kicker. Or a special teams project with a troubled past.

Hurts is top10...not top5. They will be forced to sign Hurts to a mega deal, and it will limit them, just like we are limited now....but no GM or owner would ever have the stones to trade a seemingly young franchise qb, just to ride the Rookie QB Contract wave all the time. It kinda makes a lot of sense, as most non-brady elite teams in recent history are led by good young QBs on cheap contracts ....but it's just too risky personally for a GM to try and go that route.

That said, after this season, Hurts would fetch a lot more than a single 1st round pick. Dak would probably still get a single 1st rounder in a trade, and Hurts is much younger, and playing at a much higher level....so he's worth much more than that. Won't happen though.
I think more if Hurts than most but he is probably not a top 10 QB.

Maybe it pushes the FO to go after a few top FA's to actually help in the weaker areas of concern.
The Cowboys are already two steps behind on mortgaging and rebuilding and they currently have one or two first round picks?

He may not be top 10 as a passer but right now he's in the MVP conversation with Mahommes and Allen (according to odds-makers). He is leading one of the top offenses in the league. Those two things will get him an upper tier contract. Can't imagine Eagles wouldn't pay it.

All these people saying Howie won’t draft a QB haven’t been paying attention to Howie Roseman’s philosophy. He drafted Hurts in the 2nd round literally 5 months after extending Wentz.

Do people forget his QB factory comment years ago? He’ll draft another QB in the top 3 rounds in one of these next two drafts, regardless of how Hurts plays.

Hurts is not a Mahomes, Allen, Burrows etc.
Howie will not give him a team cap-crippling contract as those moves are exclusive for inept GMs like Jerry.
The best case scenario for Hurts he will be offered a contract along the lines of his talent level and will probably accept it as demand for his services at 40 million a year will be non-existent!
In the meantime the Eagles will be drafting a rookie QB this is a gimmie.

Saints are going to flock around and win their division.

Im pretty sure any team starting Andy Dalton is not really trying to win

Plus the just lost Michael Thomas for the season

ROFL, Stop the cap.

You guys need to catch up with reality.
This is the Eagles 2023 haul.
  • First-round pick (own)
  • First-round pick (via New Orleans in 2022 draft pick trade)
  • Second-round pick (own)
  • Third-round pick (own)
  • Seventh-round pick (own)
  • Seventh-round pick (via Minnesota in Jalen Reagor trade)
They will gain an insanely good pick from the Saints to be sure. But that's really the extent of their draft capital.
End of round picks then no meat in middle of the draft at all.
If they are smart they will trade down with that Saints pick and try to make up for all the picks they traded off.
R1 picks cost you real cap dollars and lock in to be paid extremely well if extended.
Hitting on picks in round 2-5 matters a whole lot.

The Eagles deserve credit for getting a good trade worked out for Wentz but that is absolutely it.
They are on path to do to Hurts exactly what they did to Wentz and ruin him before they pay him.
When he gets that money this off-season the veteran heavy team around him will be slowly dying off.

As to the rest:
The Eagles won a SB going all in and then went 5 years without winning more than 9 games.
The cap is a mess with Jaylon Hurts current estimated market value at 44M a year. And they have to pay him THIS off-season or let him hit free agency as Dak did.
The Eagles cannot draft and have 8 starters hitting free agent for 2023.
Instead of using Hurts cheap season here to get ahead on the cap they sold out.

you mean the front office that has this team at 6-2 and has been one of the best drafting teams in the past few years while still finding a good ammount of strong value FA's to fill in the gaps.

that front office?

Will McClay.

If Philly trades a 1 it will be theirs, I think they target DE with the NO pick.

Roseman and that organization deserve a lot of credit for such a quick turnaround. They’re already well-stocked and have quality young players waiting in the wings for both Cox and Kelce. They’ve managed big-spending with their cap very well also. And either Hurts continues to improve and they pay him, or they use their draft resources to draft his replacement.

Credit where credit is due, they’re in good position.

That's going to be an interesting. Hurts is a good QB, but my bet is that Howie will prefer not to do anything that's going to hamstring him financially. They moved on from Foles after a super bowl. They got rid of Wentz.........not sure what the bar is going to be for Hurts to get a big long term deal.
