Right now I have him as my #4 DT behind Carter, Breese, and Ika all of whom I think will be long gone by our pick.

Im very high on what Dexter brings to the table. He is 6'6 and about 310. Will probably play at about 315-320 in the pros. He is like a hybrid between Michael Brockers and a poor mans Cam Heyward.

He is a perfect fit for our defensive alignments because he can play both 3T and 4i gaps. He is a better 3T than Odighizuwa as soon as he wakes up in the morning. He would also help shore up our off tackle run defense playing the 4i, where Chancey Golston and Carlos Watkins have been abysmal.

Cowboys love tall long armed DTs, if for no other reason than when fully extended they block the QBs vision in the passing lanes.

I think he is a really good fit for what they like to run. Good chance he is there when they pick. I Dexter and Mazi Smith will be battling for that #4 DT spot. Frankly I'd take either

I Dexter and Mazi Smith
Mazi is a key piece to a very good Michigan D. Like you I am all in either one unless a no brainer falls in their lap like Micah in 21. Of course they wont be drafting that high this time but somebody always falls.

Mazi is also a big size/athleticism guy. What works in our favor if we want to target him is he isnt quite the size/athleticism specimen as Ika

Dexter would provide more as a rusher than as a run defender. Florida's rush defense this year is absolutely abysmal, and that's also with Dexter playing alongside 410 pound Desmond Watson. If you want improvement on run defense, go get Ika or Mazi Smith. Dexter would be about improving the interior pass rush.

I think Smith is going to have freakish athletic numbers. His tape is impressive as well. I could see him being ahead of Ika on a lot of boards.

I love Dexter’s ability to shed blocks. Really knows how to use his length and he shows some great closing burst. He’d be an elite prospect if he could fix his get off. When you watch him he’s the last man to move from either line just about every play. I’m not sure if it’s him trying to read the oline or some weird coaching thing because it’s not an issue of athleticism. He also has a tendency to get washed out by double teams which worries me with our run fit issues. The upside is intriguing though.

I think a better fit for us would be Zacch Pickens out of SC. I’d watch for him to rise in the draft process. Should end up being an early 2 or late 1.

His teammate CB Cam Smith could be a nice replacement for Anthony Brown as well.

I'm really starting to like this kid and I think he would be an upgrade for our run defense. Pretty darn fast for a guy his size who has heavy hands and good side-to-side speed. A lot of analyst says he plays too high and loses his power but that's something a good coach can improve. Can he be had in the 3rd, not sur I think he will test well at the combine.

Have watched Ika (Baylor) considerably and he is a player to have on the menu in the early going. Jalen Carter is another we could covet. Dexter, Murphy, and Breese filled out my dance card. My two cents, any of them improve the team. I just feel like in the past the FO has not seen any value in this position with the first pick, and the second pick is almost as bad. I am a firm believer in Will McClay/bpa, RB, CB, and edge rushers are going to be a strong fit for this draft.

Mazi Smith is a guy I will have to watch. The Cowboys always short-list elite athletes, especially if they are from Power 5 schools.

Give me one of those guys in Rd.'s 1-2, then double up in Rd.'s 3-4 with Keanu Benton @ NT. Kid has been the rock in the middle of Wisconsin's very good defense the last 3-4 years. THAT would be ONE HELL of a combo to build upon (even with Osa, who coule ostensibly line up as a big base end in the Hybrid 4-3/3-4).

Mazi got popped on a weapons charge. At least at the moment his stock likely falling. A ready made Cowboys 2nd round pick.

I saw speculation that Heyward might be a cap cut in March...
