Looks like his knee might be just in front of the defender.

Edit: found this

FiwaEuOXkAU1u1y

Look at the line in the grass. None of him is out in front. At best the knee is even with the foot of the Iranian player.

I’m not 100% certain in soccer. But doesn’t the entire body need to be offside for it to be called? Therefore that’s a goal

Maybe someone else can verify, but I think if any part of you is in front, it's offside.

That’s what this team lacks. If they found a consistent 9 they would be top tier.

It’s frustrating to see them push guys like Josh Sargent, Haji Wright, Jordan Morris down our throats and expect them to just magically become great at this level
Sometimes you gotta go with what you got and hope for the best.
Sargent and Wright at least press and move.
They just don't actually score lol.
But many of the prior 9s the past 2-3 years have failed to even do those things.

I thought Sargent played well today
Wright on the other hand does not need to see the field again. He was terrible when he got in.

Sargent is a worker. Loved his effort but he never really presented a target either.

Wright is a bigger guy which I liked up top (tactically at the time of the swap) to help deal with crosses and providing limited hold up play but he didn't come close to matching Sargent's energy and has zero chance to start again this tourney IMO.
Shaq Moore was the guy who was just lost in the sauce.
Game was too big for him.
I'd have liked to see Reyna in at the end.

Agreed...Moore looked like he didn't belong

Pleased for Carter-Vickers, been outstanding for Celtic since he signed

Reminds me of Oguchi Onyewu (one of my favorite players in USMNT history). Just a massive body who isn’t afraid to do the dirty work. CCV is a few inches shorter but they are built like tanks

Ok help me out here again. France looked like they tied the score. The guy that scored the goal was offside. But he didn't get the ball. The pass was elsewhere. It rebounded to him and he kicked it in. He was onside at that point. Why didn't it count?

Ok, so.

Does the group C winner (Poland, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico) play against Australia in the round of 16?

Next, will the winner of the USA vs Netherlands RD16 game play against the winner of RD16 Australia vs group C winner?

So it could be a doable path for the USA to get to the Final 4 if the above is correct.

I read earlier that until the Saudi Arabia team scored their goal against Mexico the tiebreaker for advancing would have been who had the fewest yellow cards. Is that really a tiebreaker?

Yes, the last one before "lottery".
At that point, Poland and Mexico had identical goal differential, goals scored and goals against.

Belgium are the biggest flops of the tournament, so far. I don't think anyone truly picked them to win it all, but them not even getting out of the group stage is an utter disappointment. That golden generation is older, but still should have done better. They will hang their heads low.

Feel for them as they have run out their golden generation and may be down for a while now.
Really should have struck at WC or Euros 4, 6 or 8 years ago.
KdB saying they are too old is telling.
