CFZ If winning playoff games is the priority, I just don’t understand an OBJ signing

The prevailing reasons people have been giving for Jerry dumping Cooper were personality based. Having opinions while a player, and refusing the covid jab.
I don't remember Jerry ever cracking the whip with regards to player behavior issues.

La'el cut: Jerry or Stephen?

DLaw paycut: Jerry or Stephen?

Behavior clause in Gregory contract offer: Jerry or Stephen?

People are ignorant and stupid.
I agree 100% which is why I could careless what people think. We are Cowboy fans. Nobody likes us lol. They have shows dedicated to hating us. It could be June and people will talk about their hate for the Cowboys. So if we strike out on Odell it wont be embarrassing. Not having won anything in 27 years is far more embarrassing I would think if you care about what others think anyway.

Jerry is obsessed with wide receivers. If you think back he is always looking for that big name; Williams,. Ismail, Keyshawn, Terrell, Galloway, Glenn, etc etc

It’s beyond me why our 80 year old owner and part time GM, after the last 27 years of playoff futility, spends so much of his time pursuing OBJ- a player that almost certainly won’t be able to help this team much if at all this year. All this happening at a time when this team needs anything but a circus.

In fact, what this team needs a lot more than a 30 year old gimpy WR:
  • Focus and attention to detail.
  • Mental and physical toughness to overcome adversity.
  • As a probable wild card team, becoming capable of winning road playoff games- something this team hasn’t done since the 1992 NFC championship game vs SF.
  • A commitment to being at their best the rest of the regular season and beyond.
I have nothing against Odell Beckham. He has been a very good NFL receiver. But obtaining his services just makes no sense right now when this team need focus, not a media circus with the signing of a has been WR. You don’t sign a WR in late Dec as THE “key” for a deep playoff run. But you do make that signing if getting a ton of attention is the goal.
Media attention is a very important factor to our owner and some of the players unfortunately. Nothing stays " in house" with this team.

This is a common perception many misguided fans have. Jerry wants to win more than any of us here do. He just hasn’t been good at it since the early 90’s.

This is a common perception many misguided homers have on here. Of course Jerry is a Baffin and a football moron but he also prioritizes revenue and ego over winning

None of this OBJ talk would exist if we kept Amari Cooper.

it was a reason why this Cowboys team could not wait to get rid of Amari Cooper.
That just was not gonna happen ...

Does Booger not remember how long it took Dak to have any kind of rapport with Lamb? So now he is willing to risk even more Dak INT's because the two of them have ZERO rapport....this whole thing is BEYOND weird given the fact that since Deion he has wanted to win ONLY with his own draft picks.

I mean Cooper and Dak clicked right away...you never know. I dont think this team needs the current OBJ because its sure sounds like he is not healthy.

- You do sign him or trade for him if you think he is that additional piece, ..that " middle ground " additional piece that can help you
get over the hump.

- And OBJ has been what Amari Cooper has not ... He has the alpha male mentality that a Cooper or Lamb has not proven... can they competitively
beat the better, the elite coverage CBs ..? That's what i watch on game tape ... .... sometimes 'padded" misleading catch stats.

i'm interested to see what the contract is for OBJ... this year .or long term ?.

I'm prepared to have the Hilton, Lamb, Gallup, ..ad the wait and see with Beckham - i don't expect him to be at his strongest, at his most healthiest.
but could they be thinking a 70% Beckham in spots and occasions, ..for this '22 playoff run, .. is better than no Beckham at all ?

It reminds me of 2007. Our best chance since the 90s to win a Super Bowl in my opinion. We played the whole year without Terry Glenn. I think we may have inserted him in the last game of the season and then the playoffs. I guess we thought he would provide a boost. It didn't!!! We may have scored 17 points against the Giants during that playoff loss...memory is a little foggy.

There will definitely be better talent at WR available in the draft next year than OBJ will still possess at this stage in his career after multiple knee injuries. Signing him to a multi year deal, if that's the plan, is beyond stupid.

Agree 100% Rock. I just wish Jerry agreed with you. He seems to follow the “attention generates revenue” mindset.
I think he does both but I also believe he wants to win more than anything.
