We need to draft a QB with our first pick next year to do 2 things.
1) send a message to Dak
2) Be prepared when Daks contract is up

we have to spend the pick. no time to wait. he is also 30, so we need to plan for two years from now.

Been saying this all season. Problem is. This FO will not admit they made a mistake and that's how they would view drafting a QB in Round 1 of the draft.

You need to learn football and this will do 2 things:

1. Teach you that Dak is a top 10 QB and those are very very hard to find. You could use 4 first round picks and might not find one
2. Teach you that Dak is our best player and the least of our problems on this team.

the position of QB is is not as big of a need as NT or LB or even CB. Im on board with drafting a QB just not in round 1

If there is a QB you love I have zero problem with this, it's a gamble to go after a late 1st round (or any) QB though. For every Lamar Jackson you have 5 busts. I also think if you're making a move then you make the move now. No need to have an Aaron Rogers/Jordan Love situation here. Either Dak is your guy or the new rookie is your guy. If you feel good enough about a player to spend a 1st round pick you trade Dak for what you can get. If Dak stays on the roster it's almost a given you need to restructure his deal again anyways, which makes it more difficult to move on from him later. I'm not a cap guru, but it seems that it would actually make sense to either trade or go ahead and extend Dak after this season. If we keep pushing money into future years it will defeat the benefit of a rookie QB deal anyways.

It's a very weak draft for QBs but if a project like Anthony Richardson is there in the 2nd round, I'd take him for sure. Perfect opportunity for him to sit for 2 years. If he ends up a bust then no problem - they took Trysten Hill and Kelvin Joseph in the 2nd round before too.

The top QBs will go top 10. Not one that I would trade up for, The 24 draft will have two franchise QBs that I would go all in for. As for sending Dak a message, he is the one sending the message. It is three little words: crippling cap hit.

I’m all about throwing darts in the mid rounds to try and develop for the future but taking a QB at the end of round 1 is likely a wasted pick.

Who are you taking?

Richardson isn't getting out of the top half of the first round. He wont even drop to our first round pick.

The only way you are getting Williams or Maye is if you have one of the top 2 picks. No team is trading out of those 2 picks because they will want one of those QBs
