Yep. Add in all the tech, special materials, people insisting on OEM replacement parts (which I 100% agree with), and potential law suits for lost value, it makes financial sense to total vehicles.

The air bags are a big part of that. Once deployed, it’s over and they need to be replaced.

I’m still a little surprised that a car of that cost isn’t worth repairing. The body shop guys get the same hourly rate as a cheap car.

In the end I guess that once front end damage passes a certain point, it’s beyond money, and just not fixable.

At least he is ok and didn’t appear to pull an Eric Williams or way worse.
