We have a little mini-bye going right now, and we have played what would normally be a full season, before the move to a 17 game season. We have a great idea of who is who and what a player is capable of being.

I am savoring every minute of this season, but also looking forward to find out what holes we might fill in the draft (assuming the talent level lines up).

I don’t think the Cowboys have to force anything in the draft, but plugging some holes if the opportunity presents itself would be nice.

What do you perceive are our biggest needs in the offseason? Who stays and who goes?

Shultz: Nice player. Worthy of a second contract. But he’s not Kelce. I would let him walk, and replace him in the off season, and enjoy the comp pick in a year. His replacement is probably already on the roster in Ferguson.

We need a DT in a bad way. If I were the Cowboys I would be looking to add a fire hydrant run stuffer at DT. A true bag of dirt. If that lined up to be our first pick value that would be nice, but finding another Hankins should be relatively cheap in free agency. One a 1-10 priority level I would say this priority is a 10.

Offensive line: Biadasz is a marginal, but workable center. I would be looking to upgrade his position in the offseason (keep him around until his contract expires). We will need another center when he walks in free agency.

Tyron Smith: The fat lady is warming up to sing on Tyron. I’m all for keeping him around as a swing tackle, but if you are keeping him around as your starter, forget about it. His contract is a factor. I could see Tyron being shipped out in a trade. If he stays in Dallas I don’t think his contract will work as a backup.

Gallup doesn’t look to the be the player we thought he would be pre injury. I look for Gallup to be traded or a cap casualty at some point. Does TY Hilton take over for him full time going forward?

Does anyone doubt that we need to add a legitimate #2 corner this offseason. Probably should make that two legit CBS. I really like Diggs but he is going to break the bank. You either pay Diggs, or you trade him this offseason for a first round pick (plus maybe another pick or player) and draft his replacement if his cap his exceeds his value to the team. Bland is probably your slot corner going forward. A top corner is a 10 in priority based on need.

RB: Zeke is a fan favorite, but that contract sucks. Ideally Zeke takes a pay cut and remains a situational short yardage back, but I don’t see that happening. I see RB as a priority coming out of this draft class. If we could draft the next Pollard in rounds 3-5 that would be outstanding.

We need a thumper at linebacker. LVE has been better than I expected this year but his injuries have unfortunately derailed his career. We don’t have another thumper at linebacker. Need to try to find a thumper with speed in the next draft class.

In my opinion you should always go BPA, and that overrides these needs but that’s what I think are some of the priorities we have in the offseason.

restructure Zeke is a must
I would sign Shultz if he doesn't break bank, he is safety valve for Dak and we are real strong at the position with rookies
sign Pollard, Steele, Diggs, Wilson, Maher - Dont ever let top tier talent walk unless its RB and they are looking at Zeke $
I for one would sign McGovern not sure he is a FA but he is a better than solid LG for us
Tyron Smith big ? mark not sure right now
Our draft needs is in my opinion BPA always but if things align right CB, WR, DE, LB and unless a stud DT falls to us I would much rather go out in FA and sign a known player that steps in to help now.
We are in win now mode, not waiting to develop guys at positions of need I wouldnt mind our FA group consisting of Veteran DT, WR and LB if we do not resign LVE.
I might be missing some of our own FA not sure who else is a FA but thats what I got.
To all of you out their, we dont know each other at all our ages and race, political views, genders or values and everything else is unknown and at the end of the day in life should not matter or be important. We all have one thing in common that brings us all together. That Star
Family fights all the time and we do here but at the end of the day when that Lombardi is lifted all the BS goes away. I come on here for my fix that you all supply and am grateful for it all including the sarcasm lol. So in saying all of this I wish you all the best of Health and Happiness along with a Super Bowl victory for Our Team
in the coming Year. Love to All

Mortgage the farm for a 1st round QB :muttley:
do you feel confident a Bryce young or stroud can come in a lead a team to a Super Bowl victory?

hell osu qbs are pretty pedestrian in nfl now the other positions ball out

look at Barbie who by all accounts is the best qb since luck coming out of college has struggled up till recently
I’m certainly not opposed to looking at a qb in draft heck I think you should look at that all the time but your basically throwing in the towel to the rest of the team when you do that
Of course there it that pesky thing called a contract that presents issues

Schultz is 2nd in receptions.

just pay him.
He hasn't made alot of plays in my opinion though. I.e. fight for contested balls, make impossible catches etc..
He did get open pretty good on the short routes and that's where his TDs come from but that's nothing we can't expect from Hendershot or Ferguson with a full season on their belt already.

Let Schultz walk. He's awesome this season but the money is needed elsewhere next year.

Other than that I agree on the DT position. This and a second reliable corner should be our top priorities in the draft or free agency.

Whose starters contracts are up by the way?

You're talking about Lawrence 'struggling up to now'. You mean he struggled his rookie year. They almost all struggle their rookie year. That's part of the deal. You can't judge a QB off his rookie year.

Schultz is playing with a PCL.

and is 2nd in team catches.

True my point is mortgaging the farm for a 1st round qb at this point is not ideal

neither of those QBs have Barbie’s pedigree and Dak isn’t what’s holding the team back

I also think that fixing the team needs should be more important look at the niners. Mr irrelevant balling out because his team is stacked

Ty Hilton is 33 he’s not taking over for Gallup….he’s a luxury to have as a serviceable 3rd receiver maybe 4th- you can’t consistently rely on him at his age . I’d also not make any decision on Gallup until you see him almost 100% point injury. He’ll need another season before that verdict comes.

Tyron smith likely retires before he’s traded so I’m not sure that’s a real option. I do think zeke stays on a lower amount and pollard is paid.

in terms of Schultz and stats…he always gets stats that was never an issue but to me they are like empty carbs. I think you can find that production between 2 tight ends or a unit for much cheaper especially when you have to pay diggs parsons lamb

This will likely get moved to the off-season thread, but for me it’s CB, OG, DT (NT). AB isn’t coming back unless he takes a super team friendly deal, and you need an extra outside guy. We are seeing that now. McGovern is not coming back and isn’t good. Tyler likely stays outside, so you need a guard that can get push. And our run D is AWFUL. We need help on the line badly

It’s pretty obvious what the team needs are if they bring back a few of their veterans: CB, DT, WR, G. Now will they resign Pollard, Lve, Shultz. Think both Brown, Lewis are gone and probably Joseph as well, huge need

Tyron has to stay now as you won’t have Steele for a full year and maybe longer. He blew out both his ACL and MCL.

I'm just going by what our team needs today.
Not going by what happens after the season via free agency and who stays or goes.
Right now, today, we need DT and some real beef in the middle that clogs up the running lanes. OL, again, the middle of our OL. CB, someone opposite of Diggs. MLB, LVE is hurt and we need a tackling magnet. WR, someone to compliment Lamb.
