The Cowboys have to endure 7 days of being livid about their performance, about hearing that they don't deserve to be in the playoffs, hate from ESPN, from fans, taunting, mockery.

In the weird psychology that goes with being America's team, the superstar persona creeps into their mindset. As a different thread pointed out, it is a jekyll and hyde sort of thing, they seem like they EXPECT to win at times, without effort. Well, I think last week is more of a positive than it is a negative. The Cowboys don't expect to win whatsoever, but they certainly are going to be focused on football, they have been focused all week, for that matter.

It's going to be a show of force on Monday.

perhaps the coaches may have intently done this, expecting not to have a chance with philly losing...and thus creating an atmosphere of pushing and having players focused and p!ssed off to prepare for Bucs....

just a thought.....

for defense ,,, let's hope they have the 50yd bomb down the right sideline figured out, that's been Brady/Evans' go-to pass in their comebacks and it just happens to be the one we can't seem to defend!
for offense ,,, we know Dak folds under the kind of pressure he's been getting, the OL simply has to do better and get a real run-game going.

These are both tall orders...

If they need to go to these extremes to motivate professional football players, there is a much bigger problem.

It could be.... but the players went along with it... so there is some concern wrapped up in my positive outlook on the playoffs.

Maybe I am wrong because I haven' really looked into it, but I think teams that go into the playoffs on a roll do better than teams that stumble in. I don't know if the Cowboys are livid or not. But I think there is a good chance their confidence may be shaken just a bit and I think confidence is more important than anger. Remember when MM said "we are nobody's underdog"? I cannot imagine Dak, for example, going out on the field Monday night, not wondering in the back of his mind if his first pass will be off target and intercepted again. He has to be thinking about it at least a little. All it takes is a tiny bit of hesitancy by Dak and the Cowboys will be done.

You're right... and yet, I remember that in the super bowl years of the 90's, the lookback video had 1st round pick Russell Maryland admitting that "It is hard to keep that intensity" during a full season. Even for Super Bowl teams, being consistently, mentally ready is not a given.

I would sincerely hope that this would motivate them to come out and absolutely crush Tom terrific and the Bucs. Making a huge statement and riding that momentum all the way to the Championship game. And although I really do think they are the better team, I have that nagging gut feeling that we are about to repeat the nightmare that the Dallas Cowboys suck in the playoffs and Tommy boy never loses to us.

The Washington game had no meaning, really
I doubt they are livid about anything.

I didn't see anything last week that tells me this team deserves to be in the playoffs, but they're there. You gotta tune out the mediots. Everything is easier that way.

i think we also are underestimating the value of the team being able to come together on a road expereince and not having the external distractions that you get at home. I do think we will see a team that comes together, plays together and has cleaned up a lot of the mistakes.

I think the bigger worry is the personnel matchups - TB"s def was 8th if i recall and they have an offense that can really hurt our secondary if we dont get some fast pass rush.
