Make it known and send a message! We've screwed up at times on second round picks, why not screw up getting a position that would be used to light a fire under a certain QB on this team???

You don't draft a player of that position to let him sit, unless Dak becomes all world somehow and the ROOKIE never sees the field. In a way you kind of want this situation to happen like this! Please give your thoughts

You can't paint yourself in a corner on what position to take each round.
If there is a QB still available worth drafting in our 2nd round spot, then maybe so
I mean, a first-round worthy player (according to our board) in a huge position of need (say, DT, WR, CB, OL) could slide to us in the 2nd.

I’m 100% good with drafting a QB to start developing. I’d even consider it in the 1st.

That being said - with how good our team is I really, really hope we actually try to continue to build in parallel to that. You’re giving Dak a good chance to make a run and setting up the next QB for success.

I would not force it or it would wind up being a wasted pick. I might be willing to invest in a small school QB with brains and some physicals tool but lacking in experience. One thing I would look for is control of his game. Maybe even a guy with a mechanical issue when he throws that I can coach out of him. But it starts with his head. I do not want my QB making the most mental mistakes on the team. Same thing with receivers. I don;t want receivers who do not run the right routes because they will invariably screw up in crucial situations.

Team needs too much to draft a QB that early with the Dak contact and pending extension...

Rounds 5-7 and/or signing a rookie UFA...

I agree

History says we don’t draft one until the 3rd or later

Quincy was a 2nd round pick that should have been a 4th and MCGhee was a 3rd that should have a 5th

Their track record at qb drafting has been abysmal in the last quarter century

I'll warn ya'll. Jerry wants Duggan badly. Dare he draft him at 26? You bet he would.
