In this order is where I think our needs are and what we should do if they are available.

First
Siaki Ika-Dont care if its the first round. This guy automatically comes in and helps our run D and defense overall. Kid is a stud and will allow Parsons to play more LB.
If he is gone
Jaxon Smith-Njigba-I hate going after a WR in round 1 but he helps our O big time
If he is gone
Bijan Robinson
First round RBs scare me but this late. That talent. You have to take it.

Early opinion. Probably going to change but Ika is my biggest want in the draft.

Ika would involve a HUGE philosophy shift from this Front Office, mainly from Cap Boy, who has spewed his "3Techs only" nonsense for years.

I'm not saying it shouldn't change, just that our "leadership" would rather be right than be good.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is one of my favorite 2023 prospects. I would be thrilled if the Cowboys drafted him.

Bijan is an uber-talented RB. He's a top 10 talent and the only reason he's even in the conversation at 26 is because the league has devalued RB's. I get that, but I hate running from talent. It's the kind of thinking that got us Taco Charlton over TJ Watt and Trysten Hill over anyone with an ounce of football talent.

Bijan at 26 checks a lot of boxes:
  • The contract status of both Zeke and Pollard means it is possible 1 of them won't be here in 2023 and both will be gone by 2024.
  • He's a Texas kid so fans will love it. Translation: Jerry will have drafted the player who will probably lead all rookies in jersey sales.
  • If he's there at 26, I seriously doubt there is another player on the board that is a) more talented and b)will come in and have the impact Bijan would.
Bijan is a hybrid of Saquan Barley and Reggie Bush. I would hate drafting a RB with a top 10 pick; I get the philosphy there. Pick 26? Come on down!

Haven't watched a lot of players yet, but I saw Jordan Addison's film and he is a bad man. The NFL has turned into a quick-hitter passing league where your receiver needs to separate in 2 seconds before the throw. Addison is unbelievable at that. And he's fast enough to threaten corners downfield, so he isn't just a Welker-ish slot.

I'm guessing he'll go top 15, so not a realistic option for Dallas, but I can see him having a Stefon Diggs type of career. Devonta Smith seems to be Addison's popular comp, and he has proven that being 160 lbs isn't a dealbreaker if you've got everything else.

I don’t see Addison going that high in too many mocks. Most have him slotted around where we are picking.

With our needs pre free agency .. RB, WR3, LG, 1T, MLB, CB.

They are likely to get a skill player guy and I think Robinson and Addison fit that bill.

I can't get behind a draft without one single Lineman. Insert one where the kicker is.

It really depends on how they approach free agency.

You already have
LT : Tyler Smith C : Tyler Biadasz RG : Zach Martin RT : Tyron Smith under contract. You also are going to bring back Steele as an RFA.

They have Farniok, Ball and Waletzko under contract as well. So you’re already at 8 lineman. If a plug and play LG is there I am all for it. But I believe McGovern returns back on a cheap deal.

I am all for new blood on either line. Doesnt have to be offense.

If we walked away with Ika, and say Charbonnet. We would see a significant upgrade in both the Defensive and Offensive running game IMO.

Don't rule Jamyr Gibbs at 26 either. Think faster Kamara

my top 3 "wants" at pick 26:
1.notre dame te michael mayer...i'm a irish homer and would love to see the mayer of south bend in dallas.
i think he's a match-up problem and would love to have one of those in dallas.
2.brandon jones,ot-georgia...big fan of his game.
it would be fun for a long, long time to have tyler smith and brandon jones anchoring the left-side of our oline for the next decade.
3.isaiah foskey,de-notre dame...my irish bias is too strong.
when the dust settles...i think he'll be a 1st rd pick.
career sack leader is also good vs the run and joined in on the punt block party this season.
he's just a damn good football player.

other players i considered for my top 3:
rb bijan robinson,texas
wr quentin johnston,tcu
wr jordan addison,usc
cb joey porter,penn st
baylor dt people eater whose name i can't spell...but i don't think this f/o would do it.

Zero problems taking Robinson at 26 for me.....but keep in mind, he's eligible for a new deal after his 3rd year. So if you have no intention of giving him a second contract you may wanna reconsider using a 1st round pick UNLESS you are prepared for a hold out year 4.
