It all depemds on who else is available at 27 before making that choice. we have many a need and offensive weapons is not limited to just rb position. Id say WR is a much larger need. DT and LB also looms large and my personal preference is to grab a QB 3rd - 5th

Can't sign Pollard to a big deal without seeing if he's the same player after injury.

Not saying we need the top running back in the draft but we must have a running game putting it all on Daks shoulders is a recipe for disaster.
And Zeke is done unless he wants to stay on for peanuts as a fullback

Really believe drafting Robinson is a pipe dream from Cowboy fans. The same things were said about Gurley falling and he was coming off a acl tear

IMO there's no real reason to re-sign a running back to anywhere near top dollar or FT unless they truly are a franchise RB, which in this day and age is rare/not really needed.
Especially when the team has big dollar contracts already from the QB, DE, OL and soon to be CB and WR positions.
For a position that has been diluted by the passing game/easy to plug and play dedicating 5 figure salaries to a RB seems extravagant.
Not to mention Dallas FO already blew their load on Zeke and his monstrous deal.
 
Would prefer to pick up an RB later on like round 4. Draft a big strong dude for O line or D line in round 1.
 
Franchising a RB is dumb move. If Pollard's price is too much (it will be), move on. Draft his replacement and apply the savings to a FA vet with some gas in the tank for a position of need.

We have enough picks to bring in a good tight end prospect early. I think they will have a hard time passing on a cornerback but I would like the Cowboys first three picks to be a power guard, tight end, and running back. I think that would sure up our offense.

No running back in the 1st.

I'd cut Elliott. Tag Pollard (or see what kind of deal he might be looking for as his leverage might be low given his injury). Sign a vet back. Draft a kid in the middle rounds - McIntosh from UGA. Spears from Tulane. Guys like that.

Use your first and second and maybe third round picks on lineman (OL and DL) and maybe a WR. That's the smart play.

The RB position can easilly be addressed at some point day 2 of the draft. There are no first round rbs on Philly or KC thus proving you can make a super bowl without spending a lot of draft capitol on rbs.

I am hesitant to resign Pollard bc of what just happened with Gallup who wasn't the same guy after the injury. We can't just sign him to a big contract with no consideration of his injury. He may never regain the explosiveness so, unless he is willing to take a 1 year prove it deal, might be better to avoid him.

KC took CEH in the 1st round in 2020, Philly took Miles Sanders in the 2nd in 2019 so both have used high round picks on the position in recent years. If the Cowboys were picking in the top half of the draft I would agree in full avoiding any RB. If you're picking in the 20s I think all bets are off though, especially since you're in that draft spot where you may be selecting without a true prospect you have a 1st round grade on. If Bijan is the best player on your board i think you have to pull the trigger. Other teams have pretty much stopped taking early 1st round RBs and for good reason, but that also means you're getting the best prospect at a position later on. Plus I think the 5th year option makes a ton of sense for an RB.

If you do keep Pollard around I'm more on board with the approach to wait and see whats there round 4/5, but it's still not quite the situation of just plug and play RBs many fans want to make it out to be. You can find the Rhamondre Stephenson or Isiah Pacheco's , but the majority of these guys are still JAGs or failing to make rosters altogether.

If they don't retain Pollard or sign a free agent RB, then they're forced to draft a RB in the 1st. Bijan might be gone by 26 and it possible 2 RBs could be drafted before 26.

If they Franchise Pollard, then the draft options are wide open. They could take Bijan if available or they could draft one later.

Darnel (ms) Washington ( TE Georgia ) gives you a combination TE and Oline. Also, I'm strongly leading to filling the LG spot via free agency. Wouldn't cost much and I rather know what I'm getting.
