Draft notes/opinion over the last few days

Agree in early rounds.

In later rounds run plugger is OK. They drafted Ridgeway and Bohanna.
- Not certain where the cutoff is for them.
- Maybe 3rd round for an elite run plugger.
That’s the hope, but they have been using day 3 picks in back to back seasons

Not thrilled with CB at 26, want more pizazz with that pick.

TE Washington size gotta bring back memories of what they hoped they had in Rico....

His 1 handed catch in drills was pretty good
He was only TE that literally drove blocking sled 10yrds back...wow
I was quite impressed by the TE group.

Sadly I was out of touch for a few days as my mom passed away during the week. Talking Cowboys is my escape during this time. Things that I gathered over the last few days:

-As many know, fa deal's usually take place at the combine. There are some rumblings that the Cowboys are far apart in the contract talks with both Wilson/Lve. We have seen them show some interest in those positional groups. Think they will sign a veteran if Lve departs, but might look to the draft to replace Wilson.

-OBJ is going to be a Cowboy, unless someone goes Von Miller and sends the brinks truck to his house. Jerry cannot stop talking about him and even said he had a discussion with his mom.

-Speaking about the receivers, kind of disappointed. JSN refused to run, but tested very well outside of that. Surprised about some of the 40 times and Addison being so so light. Every top receiver has it's warts. Really like Mingo, huge hand size and runs a 4.4, much rather him in late day 2, then taking one of these top guys.

-Bobby Belt, who is a legitimate insider believes the team is targeting in no particular order: CB, RB and pass catcher WR or TE for our top 3 picks, with possibly OL sneaking in if a right player falls to them. He also said the Cowboys appeared fasiniated with the top TE's. Maybe they sign OBJ and get an elite TE and would fix our passing offense in a hurry. I wonder if this team will truly release Zeke, Jerry certainly wants to keep him, it's time to move on.
Sorry for your loss.

IMHO, there’s many ways the Cowboys could help themselves. I expect a combo of draft and FA at WR, RB, QB, TE, DT, OL, DE and DB . Probably double dip at WR. If it was me, I’d concentrate on WR and the trenches.

I also think they really like Wilesko. Supposedly he has really good technique just needs to get stronger. I think they love Fornick as an interior backup. Can you explain to me why the local media is trying to get rid of Tyron. Could you imagine if we didn’t have him at the end of the year.
And Waletzko is one mean S.O.B. I think the team really likes him. We will see of course, but I think he’s way better than people are expecting. Like you said, he did need to gain some strength but he moves extremely well.

And I’m sorry @Cowboyny … it is tough to go through. I lost my Father to cancer when I was 20, so I have been through something similar.

From experience, there isn’t really anything that anyone can say… so I’ll just say again, that I’m sorry.

A developmental prospect that Dan Quinn would covet
Dan Quinn would love to have him… but I’m not sure that I would really call him developmental. While he does still have plenty of room to grow, he’s a pretty good player right now.

I think he might be able to help some as a rookie.

I like Ringo's game footage. His arm length and vert/broad jumps were dissappointing but he can muscle WRs better than some higher rated players.

Banks might be higher than 4th. Based on game footage I might have him above Witherspoon. Add in the measurables and it's another plus in favor of Banks.

After the 1st:
Darius Rush is interesting at some point after the 1st round.
- His game footage looks good and he has a wow combination of measurables.
- He was up/down in Senior Bowl 1-on-1 drills. Great on some but completely faked out on a couple of others.

Forbes is a terrific player college player but 166 pounds it just too big of an issue to be a 1st round pick.

In the 4th/5th range maybe DJ Turner II. Short, lightweight with short arms but nice game footage and wow 4.26 forty and 38.5 vert.

I did a spreadsheet of the combine measurables and listed them in Brugler's pre-combine ranking order.

Clark Phillips is a better football player than athlete. Some of what I am seeing here is probably going to cause him to drop but someone is going to get a day 2 or 3 bargain.

Depends what cbs are available. Unlikely but you aren’t getting more pizazz than Witherspoon at 26. But he probably won’t be there
