I thought he was accurate as a pocket passer also. The full package not to long ago. Who’s feathers were ruffled.

The Ravens never even sniffed a championship with Lamar on a rookie deal for 5 years. Now give up two first round picks for him and pay him 250m all fully guaranteed?

The last part is the sticking point. He would have already been signed had he not insisted on a fully guaranteed contract.

If true, It's probably due to his contract demands.
Just because the short bus Browns gave a fully guaranteed deal to Watson, doesn't mean other teams want to follow.

Could be why teams last year in pursuit of Watson pulled up after talks about what the Browns were willing to offer in terms of trade assets and contract.

Lamar has been nicked up the past few years too. Fully guaranteeing a deal at top market value for a guy who hasn't had the greatest postseason record-relative to his regular season wins, and who has missed games in the 4th quarter of the season the past two years is potential franchise suicide.

This QB draft class ain't that bad, either.

Also, teams lie all the time in the offseason, we are under a week before any offer sheet could occur. These players are freaking out over what ifs. Stupid. There's also Aaron Rodgers that may not decide he wants to be traded and the Jets could then switch gears to LJ

Not only that, but he doesn't have an agent. If he had an agent, he would have been given an extension after the 2020 season. Now all these players coming out talking about this and comparing it to Jones. The situations couldn't be more different. But they're not stupid, they know this. They're playing a different angle.

Ravens apply non-exclusive tag.
Media immediately checks with their sources to see if select teams are interested.
Teams *allegedly* deny any interest.
Media/Players/Etc: OMG, WHY ARE THEY SO PUBLIC WITH THEIR PLANS!?!?!? COLLUUUUUUUSION!!!

Lol Jackson wonvo 4 years ago, what relevance is it today? If he was playing like he was in 2019, he wouldve had a contract already, but he's put up some pretty below average seasons the last few years.
Btw, Sherman is a joke, he really brought up Joe Burrow. Burrow has been to a Superbowl and 2 championship games. Jackson is 1-3 in the playoffs, huge difference

The Ravens have totally structured their offense around Jackson. How many team are willing or capable of doing that right now pronto for the 2023 season? How many teams are willing to Guarantee 100% of his agreed upon contract? Nothing else to See here IMO.

It was foolish of Lamar to try to negotiate his contract with only his mother, and now he's in a situation where he's hoping the phone rings.

A qualified agent would be working the phones for him. Not wanting to pay for one while looking for hundreds of millions of dollars.

Shocked the card wasn’t played already.
Like Lamar but no way I’d pay a qb whose game is entirely predicated on being a running back. He’s not great in the pocket and he would be much worse if forced to stay there because of a major leg injury, which seems inevitable these days to running QBs. RGIII was a credible thrower…..when he was a threat to run…not at all afterwards. Wentz…same. I think Philly is in the same situation honestly…Hurtz wasn’t good before they schemed him with more running/rpo and surrounded him with every top FA they could find. Feels like a potential Wentz repeat if Hurtz gets hurt.

I hope Lamar gets a fair\reasonable deal. Having said that, it's awesome to see the league push back on what QB values should really be.

Time to get some ego's in check.
Like the supposedly $250 million deal with $133 million guaranteed that he turned down last off season. That contract seemed more than fair and reasonable at the time. He bet on himself by not signing it. He then went out and had a less than impressive season missing 5 regular season games due to injury and a playoff game. It does seem his ego is not in touch with reality.

Geez. Gigantic contracts are handed out every day to people of color.

This has nothing to do with anything other than "fully guaranteed" and Lamar's health already showing signs of decline.

Would you put a quarter billion dollars in escrow for a player who's best days are likely behind him? Or at the very least will likely decline significantly before the contract ends.
I don't think it really has to do with the money paid, but the perception of what you're vs other players.

Put 10 million in a simple no risk long term annuity, and you're making 400K a year.

At what point do you have more money than you know what to do with?

You mistaken.

It's only a collusion by the owners not to be interested in Lamar, and sooner or later it will be brought to the public's attention that skin color has something to do with it.

Who remembers the good old days when Hershel Walker played for the New Jersey Generals? We may get to the point where we figure out if the owners are really going broke, or they still have more to give per what the market demands from the players.
I don't think there is collusion. And even if there were, it has nothing to do with skin color. He was offered a great contract. He wanted more guaranteed. It isn't unreasonable for a team to balk at fully guaranteeing a deal as the Ravens have done. It seems even more unrealistic for another team to come in and make that offer plus give up two 1st round picks.

  • He turned down massive offers before last year (which is is right but is a risk) and the Ravens didn't appreciate that
  • He's had back-to-back average to below-average seasons
  • He's had injuries in consecutive years
  • The asking price is probably 2 1st rounders (minimum) PLUS 50 mil per year
  • He is only 26 though
