OK.

So where are the upgrades at DT coming from? Show me some names.

I'd love to be wrong but I think even deep down, you probably know not to expect much.
A'Shawn Robinson, Greg Gaines, Chris Wormley, Andrew Billings. There are a ton of guys out there right now.

We were never going to go after Payne or Hargrave or Tomlison. Those guys were always going to be too pricey for Jerry/Stephen. Some more mid-level guys are gone with Cox going back to Philly.

We have heard nothing on Hankins. Where we pick isn't exactly going to likely be teeming with DT prospects unless we take a reach early (for those that will say, relax, we'll fix DT in the draft). So what's the plan? Just sit around and hope to pull a bunch of nobodies and such next week when they are cheap and then throw a later round pick or two at the position?

I had wondered if maybe they were just going to invest in a better MLB than LVE and hope that fixed some of their interior problems but LVE is back and Wagner appears to be a non starter. So it just seems like we are going to run this thing back with a bunch of jabronies at DT. I swear to god, this franchise's handling of the DT position is just so frustrating.
Stay patient, one of the best Cowboy insiders said that the run defense was next to address in fa.

I would have loved Wagner but I think by going LVE it allowed them to keep Wilson too
At 26 it’s rare to get an impact DT who can play run and help in passing game
I think they do bring Hankins back and we are only a couple days into FA
I don’t see any stars out there but may be some one deminsional run or pas guys
An impactful DT who impacts both run and pass is really hard to get. They generally only got the market at 30 years old
But the run defense wasn’t as bad as some think. We were around middle of the pack at 4.4 per carry which is exactly the same as the Super Bowl champs

Some teams just value DT. 49ers. Don't be surprised if the Eagles take some DTs in this draft (or take Carter is he falls to them at 10). They too value DTs.

We do not. It's bizarre.
Carter might be a lock to the Eagles after his pro day. Carter and Davis back together again.

Osa is our starting 3T next year, and the year after. He is solid, if not spectacular.
I think Watkins gets resigned as depth. At the very least, I think Hankins is brought back at the 1T. I believe there are still some solid 1Ts in FA that would be slight upgrades from Hankins including Billings and Robinson. I think we sign Hankins or another vet and possibly draft one.

I don’t think it’s they ignore it but it’s like an edge rusher or QB. Just really hard to get one
And I think some of our run defense weakness is just scheme. Quinn cares more about going after the QB than stopping the run. When he tried to stop the run we did a nice job. Running QB’s got to us more than a team actually sustaining the run gain. We gave up I think 327 yards to QB’s

We've never valued defending the run, or more accurately we prefer players (inc. DT's) with flex/multi role ability to help pass rush and run block.
I suppose we acknowledge the issue, hence the continued picking the position: Bohanna, Ridgeway, Hill, Gallimore picks, but we can't evaluate them and of course we love position flex of players such as Watkins.
Yep draft an our and out run stuffer ..... we got plenty of pass-rush (even LB and Safety).

It's early and I think Hankins will be around for a bit longer. If I was Dallas, I would re-sign him.

I think Jerry is going to draft a TE or DE in the first round. He has not taken a DT in round 1 since 1991. But Jerry also loves the draft to build his team so maybe he is looking at Mazi Smith or Siaki Ika on Day 2.

BUT when it really mattered teams ran it down our throat. THAT is what is important; not the average which is only a minor indicator of competence

With Quinn here he has a VISION Jerry doesn't
Quinn's been here for two previous offseasons and in both, we hodge podge'd the DT position. If they do it again this offseason, then I think it's safe to say Quinn has little influence here or that he agrees with the Jerry/Stephen model of no real investment in the position.

I can’t think of a game where the run game beat us.

Booger has never seen DT or S as a sexy pick, he'd rather take OL.

He's a follow the ball GM so RB, WR, TE and OL will be foremost on his mind.
