As of Today, Which Player Do We Draft Round 1?

Ferguson is a pretty decent blocker but if you wanted more than that you could do what they’ve done plenty of times: put a reserve OL at TE and let him block. Maybe Farniok.

You could have 12 personnel with Ferguson and Farniok as the TE’s and you’d have good blocking with Ferguson maybe going out on a route.

Or you could use Kincaid and Farniok and have the same options.

I’d like Kincaid and Ferguson because Ferguson blocks well but is also a danger to the defense in the passing game. That would likely stress a defense a bit.

Anyway, that’s the gist of some of the options the team would have.
Plus you could run Kincaid on routes out of the FBack or slot WR role.

We ain’t drafting him to block.

Not which one you would draft, which player do you think the Cowboys draft round 1?

I'm going to guess Felix-Anudike Uzoma.

Why?

I think we will run more or less 3-4 type sets, and he fits the OLB role, and you can maybe move him around some on defense.

Off-the-wall pick, sure, but I'm going to say the Cowboys have him as the best player on their board.

Love it? Hate it?

Who do you think the pick will be?
I think Jerry will address the offence either the OL or WR/TE to help Dak improve. DE could be in play because of the talent.

At this early stage I've gone from RG to TE and now I'm back to RG again. O'cyrus Torrence is the road grader I want.
They've told us they want to run the ball, finish the Oline. Keep Smith at LT, Tyron p=obably starts at RT, and becomes our swing tackle - where he can probably stay healthier and prolong another year or two.

Torrance is my choice as well. I think he would be great value at that pick and would help us complete the OL rebuild. I think with the Gilmore trade, CB isn't nearly as pressing as it was and I think they grab a CB in later rounds. I would go either OL or DL.

Not a fan of TE in the first round and I'm not sold on Mayer. I do think he's a high floor guy but not quite the ceiling of others. I actually like Zach Kuntz in the later rounds. 6'7 guy with excellent speed.

If the talent isn't there at 26, trade out. Maybe a team that picked early in the 1st wants to get back in at 26: Get their 1st next year and maybe their 3rd this year, or even this year's 2nd if worth it.

Have seen him falling a little on the big boards…

Absolute no brainer if he falls to 26. Perfect fit as our #2 and in the WCO.
No Brainer is an understatement.

What if we trade up for him?

Would you give up a 2nd and 3rd?

Prob what it would take..yeah?

I’m not sold he’s the first WR off the board. It’s so hard to tell with this class and it will depend what teams are looking for.

It would really tough for me to move up for anyone in this class that isn’t a blue chipper.

If Johnston fell into the 20s I’d consider giving up a 4th…maybe.

My guess is Kelee Ringo…which I wouldn’t be very happy about.
You could be on to something with that choice. Diggs is the next premium position up to be resigned. Lamb we can pick up his 5th year option. You have to be thinking now and to the future with CB. Can you get a deal done with Diggs or are you planning for his replacement. That question should be addressed now before the draft.

After signing Cooks, I think the pick could be Flowers or Addison. Or maybe Forbes.

I’m 100% open to CB at 26. I want to keep Diggs but Gilly is short term and I think Lewis and AB will be gone.

I don’t love Kelee - but on a positive he’s got speed to make up for mistakes and he’s very young.

This.

I really like the Gilmore signing, but he is a 1-year Band Aid and we have no depth behind him. CB is still a very high need IMO.
