Daron Bland is underappreciated

Just another thread that doesn’t make a lot of sense. Don’t see where Bland was under-appreciated, he led the team with 5 INT‘s as a rookie. He received plenty of respect from fans with many of them wanting him to start. He has a lot of potential but let’s not get carried away with handing him starting job. He still has plenty of room for improvement.

I think he will be starting in Diggs spot next yr after Dallas trades him. My prediction lol
Bad prediction, it won’t happen! Amazed how quick some of you are to bail on a player and anoint another player. Trust me, it won’t be long before some fans are trashing Bland after a bad game. Lol

One of my players plays defense at Fresno State so I had some familiarity with him. I'm a DB snob too so I was extremely disappointed in myself for not being higher on him. He kind of bounced between Corner and Safety, and Jerry even referred to him as a Safety in the post-draft presser.

Many times, a guy plays two positions because he is not elite at either. Other times, the kid is being a team player, but that versatility slows (or hides) his development.

I think he had as many interceptions as an NFL rookie that he did his entire career at Fresno State.

I don't think Bland is under appreciated at all. He really stepped up last year and I think most fans are excited about him. Can never have enough good corners.

Bland will have to compete for that Slot spot with Lewis, and I like the idea of that to bring out the best in him.

Bland is appreciated.

Most people consider that a team needs 3 “starting” corners. Bland is included in that.

Let's give this kid a little more respect........he's earned it. ( 5 interceptions, 38 solo tackles playing part-time )
Why aren't we talking about this kid locking down the other starting CB job? I mean he had a better rookie year than Diggs. Just me, the other starting CB job is this kid's to lose.

How can the other CB spot be his to lose after they acquired Gilmore?

Gilmore and Diggs are your starting outside CBs. Bland is in the slot. He played better in the slot last year than outside. Cut Lewis and save nearly $5 million on the cap.

I would only cut Lewis if they draft a CB.

I don’t want to be one injury from Kelvin Joseph or Nahshon Wright playing a ton of snaps.

Bland will get appreciated plenty if he keeps playing that way.

He played lights out last season. His performance was worthy of a 1st or 2nd rounder. The nickel cb position is going to be in good hands for some time.

DaRon Bland isn't unappreciated. He's very appreciated.

I didn’t have an opinion on Bland one way or the other after Dallas drafted him. Frankly, I didn’t know much about him.

However, after just one preseason game, it was obvious that Dallas had found a good one. Among all of the mess that is the first preseason game… the guy looked like a seasoned vet out there. He was solid from the get-go. He only improved from there.

He’s good in coverage, he tackles great, has a knack for stealing the ball… I can only speak for myself but he is anything but under-appreciated by me. I love the guy and I think he’s going to be a big part of one of the best defenses in football. I think he’ll earn a good second contract in Dallas.

Was a great pick up. He will get better this year. Diggs will get a big pay if we keep him. Parsons will need money. D-Law will be gone soon.

Bland played great and it did not take him long to adjust and settle into the defense. I think he was praised as well in TC and PS games, the signs were there.
I remember how they were excited he was there to elect at the time.

Both Brown and Lewis going out still was a blow to the defense overall, even with Bland coming in to play. Too bad Joseph could not have stepped up as well.
The defense lost 2 and gained 1.

I still would like to see them draft another CB, but he does not need to be a high draft pick. Wright and Joseph, one or both need to be replaced, and the other the following year. As I don't think both can be replaced this year for depth purposes. Maybe Lewis is ready by game 6 if he is on PUP.

Who exactly is under appreciating a rookie who just had a really good season??

Maybe but I apparently don't have as high an opinion on Lewis as you do.
