Bucs LB Devin White requests a trade

Bucs won’t trade him for less than a high-mid first rounder. He may move to a team in the 12-16 range of the draft that’s targeting ILB. Hopefully the Eagles or Giants don’t trade for him.

Will be interesting to see what they want for him. He's in year 4 of his rookie contract and is an UFA in 2024 so I doubt a team gives up a high pick and pays him. If he walks next off season they might get a 3rd in 2025, so maybe they can get a 4th or 5th this year before the draft.

Smith is better and he went for a 2nd and a 5th
While I agree that Smith is at least as good as White, it’s a different scenario completely. The Bears had a fire sale and traded multiple players last season for discount prices. The Bucs haven’t given any indication they want to trade White. On the contrary, I’d imagine he’s one of the pieces they really want to keep.

I live in Tampa, the answer to the "why now" is that he told the team he wants a 5 year $100 million extension and the Bucs said no. If anything he has been the defintion of inconsistent the last two years. Today on local radio they were talking about his lack of effort and "business decisions" in last years Ravens game to highlight the issues they have been having with him. They may want to keep him but not at that value and given his play the last two years not sure he will get anything close to that. This is going to be a prove it year for him with the Bucs. A lot of talent, but doesn't play up to it.

Bucs’ Devin White won’t answer for his performance vs. Ravens

Edit: was $100 million, not $20 million, sorry.

I’m sure they want to keep him. But they have about $1 million in cap space.

Next year it jumps to 64 million. But they Mike Evans, Antoine Winfield, Tristan Wirfs (club option), Lavonte David, Devin White himself all ready to be paid.

I'd tell them they could have every single penny of the rest of the guaranteed money just to get away from Todd Bowles. Without a doubt the worst HC in football right now.

Plus mid season I would think trades have a more limited market

If we somehow land him it's game over for every one.

white isnt that good

every one think of him from the bucs super bowl run but he really isnt very good

he will want roquan money+ and that will be a big mistake

I can see this team drafting a talented LB fairly early in the draft process this year. There are some good ones to pick from that would likely be better than Devin White and cheaper to obtain and maintain. Of course, it's assuming we won't wait too long to find a very promising talent.
