Last year we moved guys around, went with different groups, we let guys come in for a few series. Does anyone feel this approach worked well for us??

Does anyone feel that we need to stick with our best 5 and keep them playing together?? Seems like common sense, but you have to ask this.

In practice they would see if they could work different guys in at different spots, I'm hoping this year guys stay at one position the whole season. If Tyler Smith is going to be our LT going forward, leave him there, don't keep moving him around.

Please give your thoughts...

Well you can forget about continuity as Tyron is will get hurt at some point. This is his last year. Steele already hurt and wont be 100% to start. This Oline is in the middle of a total revamp. Steele and Biadasz are FA's next year. We probably resign one of them. So next year we have 3 guys. Tyler, Biadasz, Aging Martin.

They 100% have to go Oline once in the first two rounds. Im hoping first round again. That would go a long way towards fixing things THIS year and helping the revamp into the future.

I'm really hoping for the best available OG and best available 1T DT in the first two rounds. They never seem to listen to me, but that's for another post
I'll pass along your recommendation. I think Jerry & I are going to hit a few strip clubs tonight.

I 100% agree with the concept that you want your starting 5 to be the same for continuity purposes. However, I don't really think that the switching hurt us all that much and may actually have helped us to be a little better later in the year with the injuries.
I am with ya chuck, give me OL and DL in the first 2 rounds.

I'm extremely hopeful that this team manages to provide help to the LG spot and possible the LT position, also. Starting talent and backup talent would both be very satisfying attainments for both the OL and DL, also. Improvement at those needful positions would be highly desirable to see.

MM said they never had the same starting OL lineup, I think he meant as to the starters for 2 games in a row since he has been HC.
So no continuity at all.
And as it has been posted. It probably will not happen this season as well.

MM said that with 17 games now, you must plan for that. So does he feel Tyron will go down again, as well, Steele not 100%. And very possible another OL will miss some time.
Martin is older, and missed time, though not much, so will he miss any games as well.
I expect at least 2 OL will be drafted, even if one is a later rounder. I also believe one will be a day 1 or day 2 pick.

So with a longer season will EVERY team then go through this

Continuity is not realistic.

Asking 5 guys to stay healthy and not leave the team with a salary cap is just not realistic anymore.

Play whoever gives you the best chance that day to win a football game.

Steele is expected to be back by training camp so should be ready to start the season
I’d draft a guard to start
I’d let Tyron step in if Steele isn’t ready then be the swing the rest of the year
Jerry probably won’t do that but he should Tyrone is more valuable as depth and Tyler is the future LT, so he should be playing LT

The hardest part imo "was" the decision to retain Tyron and that contract extension.
You hafta follow the money after that and that leaves Tyron starting at either LT or RT and Tyler at LT or LG.
Steele seemed to be the odd man out or so called swing tackle for the coming year by how Jerry spoke about it earlier.

Unfortunately imo, it's a simple waiting game from there of when Tyron goes down and not if he will.

In that event Tyler switches back out to LT and I don't like Ball as Tyler's backup and still haven't seen enough from Waletzko to know one way or another.

So, draftwise I would prefer another Tyler Smith clone at pick #26, and that is to say a linemen with left tackle feet but with also enough power to play inside at guard.
I know sometime position flex means you ain't great at either but in this case I want the best tackle/guard combo pick the draft has to offer.

jmo

Once Bijan Robinson goes off the board I'll be all aboard the OL train.
I really like the center/guard from the University of Minnesota John Michael Schmitz.

Well, I think injuries caused this movement. The team definitely needs another excellent OG to guard ;) against this happening again.
I like the way you guys are thinking.

I might have been the #1 poster beating the drums for Tyler to start and stay at LT last year. He is the type of player you can build around. Zach and Tyron can be the veteran leaders of the line and show the young players how it's done. Philly has done that for years with Kelce and Johnson, and they always seem to have the best or one of the best lines in the NFL.
