Position Interest based on Cowboys actions

That Israel Mukuamu dude looked like a baller as last season went on.
Hopefully he keeps it going.

I hope the Cowboys don't have a 1st round grade on him because he's not 1st round talent. John Michael Schmitz is a better prospect than Avila and we know he excels at center that can play guard. If position flex is a requirement then JMS is the best prospect at the end of the 1st round.
Not sure the Cowboys would share your feelings on the position flex of Schmitz. I’m pretty sure he has never played anything other than center and guard wouldn’t be a simple projection for him. He is a plug and play center day 1 but IMO, he is only a center.

Well if they have a 1st round grade on him, then they definitely see him different than most. If Avila turns out to be one of the better players in the draft it won’t matter. But folks here will certainly not be happy on draft night.

Yeah.. In the playoff game he was going up against some of the better wideouts in the league and he was carrying them across the field while they played out of the slot which is one of the harder things to do.

He may not make it as a wide corner but just stopping that drag route is big in todays league.

I highly doubt they have a first round grade on Schmitz but who knows. Personally, I think the only way they draft Schmitz in R2 is if they think they will part ways with Biadasz and he is a can’t pass center prospect. If they see him differently than most, that is more likely the reason as he does have future All Pro upside. IMO, he will be a center in the pro’s.

Edit: And there may be a lot of upset people because I have a sneaky suspicion Avila is their target. It just makes sense base on how the Cowboys think. They need 1 guard now, another who is getting long in the tooth, and a decision to make next year at center. Avila has shown he can play all 3 of those positions at a high level and Dallas loves flexibility.

Avila is a better OG prospect than Schmitz at OG by a wide margin.
- I think some teams will have a higher grade on Avila than on Torrence.

Schmitz is an early 2nd round prospect at OC.
- At OG he would be about a 4th round prospect.

I went back to 2020 and reviewed Avila in the season he played OC.
- He looked ok.
- It's hard to compare with his 2022 OG game footage because players tend to advance significantly over 3 years.

They're pretty good at getting the best players on the field I'm sure he'll get the chance to move up this season. NFL.com says he's been active for 19 games and started 3 and this is his third year on the team. They did a pretty good job against the run and pass in that game. Kittle was the leading receiver with 5/95.

Don't be surprised if the Giants take Schmitz at 25, they reportedly are very high on him and have a huge need at the position.

Schmitz IMO is the best interior lineman in the class. I think he comes off the board in round 1.

It don't matter who they pick.. People gonna complain.. Get you popcorn out..
