Which is the greater need, running the ball or stopping the run?

All BPA’s are not created equal and there usually is a lean to one side.

This draft for the Cowboys could be affected by what PHL does with their 10 pick. If they take Robinson to add to a very potent run game, does that not put the Cowboys on alert to beef up and stop the run? Add to this the QB-RB duo in NY.

I am leaning toward the best DPA to add to that front 7 at the DT or LB position.

My best player available would be like this

If Bijon falls he is best
If he does not I take the best player between DL or OL.

Even if you draft a DT at 26, the effects they likely have right away are minimal. Mazi is solid, but not a game changer / wrecker yet.

The Cowboys normally have about 18 players with 1st round grades.

There is a good chance that one of those players will drop to #26.
- If that happens, then they'll likely take that player regardless of position (QB being the exception).

Good question, Coach.

I don't watch college football, so I rely on the posters here to educate me on the players.

But as far as the position impact, here's what I would like to see (and this would in no way be affected by what the Eagles or any other team do).
  1. More WEAPONS on offense (I don't care which skill position - TE, WR, or RB)
  2. Shore up the O-Line (especially LG)
  3. Plug holes in defense or draft some potential future game-changers (DT, Edge, LB, CB)
1 & 2 are tied in importance for me. I'd really like to see us move the needle on the offensive side of the ball. Stay focused on this please, Will & Co!

3 is more of a luxury in my mind - I think we can field an above average defense with our current roster today (especially if we see growth in Sam Williams, the LBs and maybe Israel at CB). The future of the defense beyond this year is murkier.

I think the fact you’ve referenced honing in on LBr / DT makes it drafting for need…and not BPA at all.

We don’t really have any glaring gaping holes so should draft the best talent at a high dollar position at 26 IMO.
