He specifically said in his article that the rankings are skewed based on teams who had earlier picks or multiple picks early.

Which, when you pick 26 and don't have anyone fall to you, ranking 24th is about all you can expect.
Buffalo had six selections in similar windows to our picks and I'll wager Dane has them ranked much higher than the Cowboys.

24. Dallas Cowboys
1(26) Mazi Smith DT Michigan
2(58) Luke Schoonmaker TE Michigan
3(90) DeMarvion Overshown LB Texas
4(129) Viliami Fehoko Edge San Jose State
5(169) Asim Richards OT North Carolina
6(178) Eric Scott Jr. CB Southern Miss
6(212) Deuce Vaughn RB Kansas State
7(244) Jalen Brooks WR South Carolina

Favorite pick: Mazi Smith, DT, Michigan

In the past, the Cowboys’ organizational philosophy has been to wait on drafting nose/one-technique defensive tackles because the value wasn’t there in the first round. But the combination of a glaring need and Smith’s talent forced the front office to rethink things — and I applaud them for that. A remarkable athlete for 330 pounds, Smith has the power to reset the line of scrimmage and shut down the run. His presence will free up Micah Parsons and other defenders to make more plays.

Day 3 pick who could surprise: Asim Richards, OT, North Carolina

If the category was “most heartwarming story,” then Deuce Vaughn would have been the easy pick. But I think Richards will prove himself to be a valuable part of the offensive line as early as his rookie year. A former high school basketball player, Richards moves well and plays with outstanding play strength to lock down defenders once engaged. He has the talent to establish himself as a swing tackle/guard this season.

Eagles 1, Giants 13 and Skins 25.
No one cares that you’ve already given up.

When Nolan Smith flops this year I want to see what excuses you come up with for the blinking red light
Well I don’t consider a player a flop after 1 season…so I’ll likely hold out judgment a little longer.

For our players and theirs.

Brugler the GOAT has spoken.
Why do you consider Brugler the GOAT? Do you think he grades teams drafts upon HIS assessments of individuals, or whether they've achieved their organizational goals? Remembering he's one of the reasons why certain players get hyped by the fan.

Oh, I totally understand why they didn't take Smith. We essentially took players like him in the first round two years ago and in the second round last year.
Yep, he probably was the BPA, but overall, even Dane claims he's suited to a 3-4 OLB and there are concerns whether he can set the edge and his size may restrict playing DE vrs the run.

Probably excellent pass-run, but we've got Sam, who's size and abilities lend themselves (if he continues on the promise he's shown) to be Tank's successor as a 3 down LDE.

Now fan's can come out with the media lead urban myths like "you cant have too many pass-rushers".....but GM's dont have the luxury of a roster full of pass-rushers (WR's or CB's), they need to consider the mundane run stopping and blocking.

This is the player to watch. He could step in at Guard if Tyron has problems and we shift like last year.

Yep
And scroll up to see where I don’t consider a player a flop after 1 season.
Brugler thought Tolbert our best pick last year. If you're advocating not giving up on players after a year and you trust Brugler surely a room of: Cooks, CeeDee, Tolbert and Gallup should be given more love ..... especially when it's obvious we aren't going to play extensive 4 WR personnel and probably more 12 man personnel packages.

wasn't the way I would draft starting at 58. The Mazi selection was right. Mazi and Deuce made sense. Everything else is a dart.

Correct, which is why I say don’t give up on a player after 1 season.

And I’m advocating having your butt covered in case Tolbert doesn’t hit his prime in year 2. Create more competition - they should be trying to turn last years biggest weakness into a strength if they want to become a serious contender.

Cowboys draft didn’t change anything.

The micro is a little better but the macro is the same.

Dallas didn’t really improve their team. They just plugged some holes that can be easily plugged with what was already here.
