Mazi Smith isn't that great

Feldman's Freak List billed him with a vertical jump of 44", but his Pro Day vert was 29.5".

That really brought the rest of Feldman's article into question for me. Sure, numbers provided by the player or football program are going to be optimistic or "personal best" type stuff. But a 29" vert and a 44" vert aren't even on the same planet.

Mazi didn't run the 40 either. He might have tanked it on purpose so he would drop to a better team than usual scrubs Lions,Cardinals, etc.

Only thing that impresses me about Mazi is his measurables.

On the field it’s just meh. Maybe he develops into something more as a pressure player but right now I’m not a big fan of the pick.

What about that film was bad? I saw a hard fought battle between two future NFL players in him and Avila.

I actually think there were quite a few very impressive reps in there.

Is he going to have a pass-rush win up near 20%? Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't, but I doubt it.

The only path to being a first-round value at DT is being a threat on the passrush. That doesn't necessarily mean racking up sacks, but it does mean consistently beating blockers into the backfield. There's only a handful in the league right now.
This is exactly how they see Mazi

Ok, ok! Mazi isn’t that great! Our draft sucks! Our whole team blows! The Eagles are the greatest! We’re doomed!

Everyone happy?
