With the rookie mini camp this weekend, what are the things you are looking for.
I know not much will happen, but they instill some basics which is important. And how quickly do they pick things up.

I would like to see if they have Deuce Vaughn fielding KO and PR to see how he can handle it, at least the catching part.

Schoonmaker, routes and such, how does he pick it up as well as blocking schemes.

David Durden, WR - I want to see if his effort and hustle match the stories AND if he can compete at this level.
Earl Bostick Jr, T - Athletically, he does not seem like a guy who should have gone undrafted.
Asim Richards, G - Hopefully better than the recent crop of mid-to-late round picks the Cowboys have used on OL.
Hunter Luepke, FB - Man have you guys hyped this kid up. I'm just hoping he's an effective blocking fullback.
Viliami Fehoko, DT - Curious to see what he weighs in at.
Eric Scott Jr CB - If you guys know me, you know DB's are my thing. This guy was completely off my radar.

NO PLAYER SUFFERS A MAJOR INJURY DURING THESE NONCONTACT SESSIONS

Answer: Deuce Vaughn pissing off critics even more than he already has.

Go to 'profootballnetwork.com \NFL minicamps 2023'
A detailed - an insightful - account about what every NFL franchise does to structure a program to help their draft picks and UDFAs become acclimated to the team culture, so that they can compete with the veterans later on in the mandatory minicamp and TC.

I want to see where Asim Richards and Overshown line up.

I want to see Schoonmaker make a play or two down the field.

  • Whether Asim lines up mostly at guard or tackle
  • Whether Overshown spends time rushing the passer or with the safeties
  • What Mazi is working on
  • How smooth/natural Schoonmaker looks as a route runner
  • Is Vaughn fielding punts/kicks

What can they really do with a handful of guys? If anything, where the backs and TE's are lining up. How much are the backs going out for passes, ect.... Thats about it.

I believe some of the 2nd year players can participate and if so I want to hear positive things about Tolbert.
From what I read about the rookie camps, all players with even the minimum experience with an NFL team (one season active roster, a year or two on the practice squad) are not to attend these sessions.
My understanding is that these events are akin to orientation sessions for newcomers, ala starting high school or college for incoming students.
Welcome corrections if I am off base.

From what I've read, the rookie minicamp is strictly for draftees, UDFAs, and tryout/walkon players to get orientated to a team's culture and procedures, so they are better prepared to keep up with the veterans during OTAs and the mandatory minicamp.
Tolbert, Turpin and other players that have been with the Cowboys for at least one year, will not attend (includes PS roster).
CZers - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
