I have a friend who is an SEC ref. He's primed to become a NFL ref. Maybe now is his time?

That would be a demotion as far as I'm concerned.
Maybe AI is the future of NFL officiating.

It would. I told my son (who played college football) to talk to him. He's young enough to start at the bottom (at the high school level), then move to the college level, then NFL.

It amazes me this isn't already a thing. It's almost too incompetent to believe it's not intentional. Way too much money goes into the sport for reffing to be a side gig. Year round training and rotating through teams to teach would only make for a better product.

Thats a good thing. Too many 100 yr old guys out there that miss half the game. We need some new blood in the referee ranks, guys who know the new rules. Nothing worse than a flag on the field and a 10 minute meeting among the refs to find out why they threw it.

I'd be the best ref Cowboys fans could hope for seeing as a whole lot of folks around here say they "just want a fairly called game." Well, that's exactly what I'd give them. I'm sure I'd be well-liked 'round here for giving the people what they want, right?

12 isnt a lot to be honest. They have peaks and troughs in their retirements like any other employer.

Good thing. Tired of seeing refs who are obviously past the age their vision is optimal making close calls. There should be an age limit. Vision declines starting in your 40s. Everyone has vision decline by 60. No way should there be old fat white haired guys judging pass interference late in the game.
