Base guaranteed salary for UDFAs

Just me but I'm coaching the hell Luepke to if he can earn some backup snaps by mid-season. Something about this kid ........... in a good way

Would that make season ticket holders feel better if they were told you are helping pay Hunter Luepke's base salary.

Only if he also has to come mow my lawn every week during the summer.

All nice and all. The NFL needs to create a base limit for QBs. It's way out of hand.
The effective number as a % of salary cap hasn't risen.

2013: Romo signed for $18m AAV, 14.6% of the cap, actual cap hit 9.9%.
2023: Lamar Jackson signed for $52m AAV, 23% of the cap, actual cap hit 9.9%.

Structure has changed but quarterback contracts aren't any more prohibitive now than they were a decade ago.

You can't go by that "actual cap hit" (aka "restructured") because all you're doing is kicking the can down the road where all of that restructured portion is going to quadruple in later years. It's still going to affect the team whether sooner or later. The one thing that would be certain to help balance that budget would be a base max for QBs. It's like balancing a checkbook and trying to find the best way to pay off your credit cards.

Myth.

And also they were doing the same thing in 2013 as now so that point doesn't matter anyway.
