Dak has never thrown a lot of interceptions; that always impressed me. So, as much as I like Kellen Moore, I would tend to put the interceptions from last year on him- asking Dak to do too much.
Dak's issue is his inability to be the reason that the Cowboys win against teams when the pressure is on; his tendency to choke rather than step up when things aren't going well.
The Cowboys and the Bengals were the two best teams in the NFL last year, and those two teams should have been in the Super Bowl. Yet Dak was terrible against the 49'ers, even though the defense had San Francisco well under control. Brock Purdy was in over his head, and not yet ready for a game against the Cowboys with that much at stake. Even if he had been, the 49'ers were not as good as Dallas if the Cowboys had a real quarterback.
The Cowboys should have easily beaten the Niners, and Philadelphia would have fallen as well if Dallas had the talent under center to match the rest of the team. The Cowboys can chalk a lost Super Bowl opportunity up to Dak. And it's not the first one.
This is how bad Dak hurts the team. He seems like a great guy, but he's never stepped up when a real quarterback would. Expect the same this season.
The Bengals were unfairly made to play on the road, despite having the best team, because of the Damar Hamlin event that cost them a win and unfairly awarded home field to the Chiefs.
Mike McCarthy will have to find away around Dak if he expects success.

So the issue is not the one that we know has a huge effect on win potential but it is instead some nebulous idea?

Then there are Dak's actual close and late stats.

I wonder how many interceptions Dak would have had, if Gallup was actually a viable #2 option all season. As far as SF goes, I bet if Pollard didn't go down & we had 2 starter worthy receivers we would have had a much better chance.

Problem was that CeeDee was all they had to worry about in the 2nd half.

Don't let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon

Doubting Thomases, huh...the team as well as Dak Prescott are fine.

Sorry, I was staring at Kelly. Did you say something?

There are quite a few teams out there that could compete for a SB but are only missing a very good QB. A whole bunch.

Let's not trivialize not having an elite QB...by saying that's all that separates us from winning a SB. "That's all"?

Because then some other team's gonna say "yeah, we shoulda been in the SB too because WE were the best team...if we only had a good QB, and a franchise left Off Tackle.

And so on...and so forth. The Houston Texans coulda won the SB too...except for the minor detail of not having great players or coaches. Other than that...they're the best team in the NFL too!

We didn't have an elite QB (not that that was our only flaw) So we WEREN'T the best team. We weren't even in the top 4.

The Cowboys and Bengals were better than KC, Buffalo, Philly, SF ... someones been smokin' the drapes

As far as I know, 14-3 is still a better record than 13-4. What am I missing here?

Try as may be, one just can't excuse away consecutive 12 win seasons...that is money in the bank.

Those all have to be won and not all were wins against bottom hung teams.

I'd say his perspective is a definite plus as will be his focus:

Dak Prescott is ready to take that next step. The veteran quarterback is set to turn 30 at the end of July and spoke about how the new decade of his life is shaping his outlook on the rest of his career. He said that it has made him place an extra emphasis on winning.

"One thousand percent," Prescott said, via Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com. "Just understanding injuries and what I've been throughout my career and understanding that you don't have forever to play this game. I'm blessed for every moment that I get. Just trying to take it with a sense of urgency." "Knowing that I am the old guy, going into Year 8, seeing some of the young guys, some of the rookies and seeing the difference in eight years," Prescott said. "It's fun and challenging at times, knowing that I stay connected and stay in the now with what's cool and whatnot. But this game is beautiful. It doesn't matter how old you are because you play this game like a kid."

Prescott has been very successful in his career, with a 61-36 record, two Pro Bowl selections and nearly 25,000 career passing yards...

First off, I want nothing more than to see Dak , Martin, and Parsons hoist the Lombardi

Having delivered that caveat, the 2 best things I can say about Dak is that he at one time never got injured and didn’t throw many picks, ( although he led the league in fumbles 2 other years)

Today however, he is often injured and often picked off…….and we ALL want this season to be free of injury and limit the turnovers.
