Him and his coaching staff are more focused on filling out the roster. They’re looking for winners, players who don’t give up. Pre-season games are a great insight into the makeup of individual players. How much do they want it? Finding those types of players to fill out the bottom of the roster is more important than pre-season wins.

Most other teams do the same with the exception of the Ravens. That means it should work out to around 50/50 win rate over time, but it isn't. This means there is a consistent problem with the bottom of the roster and the camp bodies being worse than the rest of the NFL most of the time.

Winning the games are not important, but trends can be, and should be noticed. Learn from it, and use it to figure out why this is the case.
 
Yes, because as we know preseason wins and playoff wins are always directly correlated and the teams that are the best in preseason are always best in the postseason.
 
Last two games its been the opposing starters for a few series while we start our DT and a LB only. We sat Ferguson this past game. Second unit stays in through half. Second half the romper room randoms filter in.

Very few coaches try to win these things.

Waletzko and Overshown hurt but as we only exposed our backups our starters look good to go come the opener. This is an attrition league thus trying to win meaningless games hurts your chances in the regular season.

There are those, like yourself, that like to focus on the negative when in fact the Cowboys have been one of the better teams filling out the bottom of the roster.

As it should be. Pre-season is just an extended practice against an opponent some have not played yet. Coddling hands have to be off. This is where you separate the squad.
 
Funny, he and the "franchise" aren't interested in wins after the regular season either.
 
How many other teams are not playing starters at all? So far both teams we've played have felt it's important to get their starters in there. We are not going to be prepared. We've consistently started slow in the season because our starters weren't ready and it will be no different this year.

This is why I posted in the game thread, when it was brought up about play calling.

They want to see certain players in certain plays or game situations. It would not be the normal play they call in the regular season.

Bill Parcels said that he would call odd plays, just to see how the players responded. Even if it meant taking the FG, or even punting the ball if they did not get the 1st down. As well, to see players reactions to the call.

So you're not a real fan if you aren't satisfied with regular season success? We're not all like Jerry who only wants the team to be 'relevant and interesting'. That might be ok with him (and some fans on this board), but a few of us would actually like to see the team going after championships. But we all know how much Jerry loves his headlines, good or bad.
 
Everyone needs to remember. These are all 3rd and 4th stringers. As was pointed out for that OL. They are just out there. They are not used to playing together as an unit.

Also, as a group of bottom roster spot / PS / cut players, they will not look as good individually (team game concept).

But one player (who looks to have potential) (and the coaches know better than us who they are) between 2 starters, then their play can look much better.
