He likes food, and putting in minimum time at the office…should have been fired 1 minute following the first SF playoff loss.

How many other teams are not playing starters at all? So far both teams we've played have felt it's important to get their starters in there. We are not going to be prepared. We've consistently started slow in the season because our starters weren't ready and it will be no different this year.
Dallas and the Rams are the only teams to not play starters

Him and his coaching staff are more focused on filling out the roster. They’re looking for winners, players who don’t give up. Pre-season games are a great insight into the makeup of individual players. How much do they want it? Finding those types of players to fill out the bottom of the roster is more important than pre-season wins.
This statement also literally applied to every one of the other 31 teams in the NFL……….

That was evident by punting on 4th and 1, passing on 3rd and 1…he has no sense of the situation.

He's not interested in playoff wins either.
The 2010 Packers disagree.
Just saying, to be fair, he does have some playoff wins and a Super bowl win on his resume.
His playoff record is 11-10.
Jerruh has hired worse than that, and sadly, will again.

No one should be interested in preseason wins. Show me a fan who cares about whether or not we win a preseason game and I will show you a fan that doesn't understand what the preseason is for. It makes zero difference if we go 3-0 or 0-3 or anything in between. Even in the old days when you played your starters more it didn't much matter. When you approach the preseason like we do it means zero. I'm not saying how individual players play doesn't matter at all because it does, a little. I'm saying the actual outcome of who wins the the game is completely meaningless.

I agree with many posts stating that preseason wins aren’t important but if they were grinding our wins, some of the same posters would be talking about how Big Mike is forging a winning culture with this current team. Thankfully, the season begins soon.

Winning and losing are not important.

But it’s alarming our depth year in and year out seem to have the same issues.

-Tackling is horrendous
-OL depth is non existent
-Our depth seems worse than opponents
-Any type of delay or misdirection is wide open
-Opponents challenge plays, blitz, scheme. We seem content with just getting out of there
-3rd string QBs look great

Take for instance, Hunter Leupke did have a single carry the entire night. It’s the 4th quarter. It’s 20-14 with under 6 minutes to go. Perfect pressure situation.

Play calling is
-Leupke for 1
-Leupke for 0
-Grier sacked
-Blocked punt

Granted, this is depth and guys that won’t make the squad. But it’s still frustrating to watch year in and year out with the same ingredients.

I agree. Lions went undefeated in preseason one year and ended up with a 5 win season lol

I agree with him. Getting all pumped up for preseason like the Seahawks were is for losers.

And I believe they gave Leupke a 200k signing bonus…yet they wait until the end of game to “unleash” him…just asinine

Agreed and that’s my biggest complaint.

They want to use their guys when they do … but he’s lining up as a single back in the 4th?

Theres your NFC Championship game matchup folks….you heard it here first.
Not if they start the season 2-3 or 1-4 because the starters are rusty.

I get they want to avoid injuries - Romo's career ended over a pre season injury. But does sitting them in pre season really accomplish anything if they stink up the field the first few games because they're not ready to play?

I am fine with his approach IF the offense is ready to go in week 1, but that was not the case last season.

They were out of sync and couldn't consistently move the ball. 3 points won't get it done vs the Giants.

Last two games its been the opposing starters for a few series while we start our DT and a LB only. We sat Ferguson this past game. Second unit stays in through half. Second half the romper room randoms filter in.

Very few coaches try to win these things.

Waletzko and Overshown hurt but as we only exposed our backups our starters look good to go come the opener. This is an attrition league thus trying to win meaningless games hurts your chances in the regular season.
We saw exactly why we don't need to see established veterans playing in the preseason. If the wrong guy gets hurt, your season can be over before it officially starts. Just imagine if it was Dak or Parsons that were injured. The coaches would never hear the end of it.

Overshown is a big loss, because I do think he was going to contribute early. Hoping that there is some positive news but is very rare that the team thinks there is a torn ACL by exam and then have it not be confirmed by imaging. The orthopedic tests are pretty damned accurate sadly.

For Stephens, who needs an MRI, this is likely his path to making the team. I predict he ends up on the IR....a year of rehab and bulking up to be a candidate next year.

Waletzko's injury is probably a sign for us to move on. His story sounds so much like the guy we drafted in the 90's from USC who had bad shoulders and never made it. You can't play with shoulders that are constantly popping out of joint. Sounds like it is something hereditary.

A week ago, after the Jags game we had posts about the OL depth and that we really needed to be looking for outside help. Was told there was no one out there. I mentioned both Peters and Justin Pugh, and during the week there was news about both. Peters indicated he still wants to play, and Pugh has supposedly completed his rehab and has been working with Duke Manyweather, the OL guru. I am not sure if we have any special connection to Manyweather but we have several players work with him. Pugh and Peters would be solid backups that could easily start in a pinch. Peters is likely to be cheap...Pugh could start for many teams if he is healthy.

..they are actually fun to watch. Seeing what players have to compete in big leagues.

As always, its surprising. Thats whole point, fitting the best for the team.
