Tony Romo among QB's nominated for the HOF

I would love it an I definitely think it would be deserved,a lot of QBs in the hall never won the SB but Tony was the most important player for the cowboys in his time playing, without him,we had no chance.. too bad he was stuck with Garrett for most of his career..jmo

I'll take Tony in his prime over Brett Favre any day of the week. I remember when Troy and the Cowboys beat the Packers 8 straight times in the 90s before the teams became a shell of themselves. I remember in 2007 thinking Tony would do the same thing had the Cowboys remained good over the years. But they didn't.

IMO we let too many players into the HOF. Huge Romo fan, but I can't support him getting into the hall.
I could definitely support him getting in ... but I don't think he will because he lacks the hardware/team playoff success. In some ways, it would be like Archie Manning being in the Hall. Romo had better teams than Manning had, but despite both being good enough to win with, you can't assume that they would have in better circumstances.

Any fan can nominate a player or other football person for the Hall. The trick is making it past the selection committee to the semifinalist round.

So as far as his nomination being distinctive.....meh. For hoots and giggles maybe next year I'll nominate Jason Garrett, Quincy Carter and Bobby Carpenter.

(Seriously, we should nominate several of the great old Cowboys who have gotten the shaft from the Hall, and from Jerry in the Ring))

So to be clear, Romo has officially 'sniffed' the HOF.
^ Thank you. This announcement was a pleasant surprise after so many years of, "ROMO WILL NEVER EVER EVEN BE CONSIDERED FOR THE PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME!! NEE NER NEE NER NEEEEE NER!"

I am on record of saying I believe Romo will only get into the Hall of Fame via his broadcasting career. Eventually, he may prove me wrong but I think this nomination (and possible future ones), based on his playing career, will help boost my projected expectation. The Board of Selectors may allow him in after a decade or so of broadcasting and his name getting kicked around for criteria they will not agree upon consensus.

One thing I am certain of, if I live long enough. IF he gets in, there will be an outcry from Romo critics saying Hell has frozen over, lol.
