If Micah is truly the generational type player that so many claim him to be, then he needs to be just as impactful against the run as he is against the pass.

The "best defensive player in the league" cannot be one dimensional.

Micah needs to take his game and to another level and lead the Cowboys defense in proving that they can stop the running game cold. Only then will this defense be truly dominant.

What? They have the best run defense in football right now, and Micah has always been an excellent run defender.

He's less one dimensional than guys like Watt or the Bosas, anyway.

He is so dominant that he not only makes his opponents look bad but also his own teamates, and I'm not talking about the offense at practice, guys like Williams, Armstrong and Lawrence should be talking more advantage of all the extra attention Parsons gets.

Okay, I said Parsons needs to lead them to better a running defense before this game. I know those Jets RB's were getting a lot of love and the Cowboys, led by Micah, tore them up. Therefore, I sure could have picked better timing to make that statement. Fair enough.

My observation was based on average yards per carry for opponent RB's over a two year span. The Cowboys defense was ranked 23rd in 2021 and 16th in 2022. They are still ranked 16th after these two games. Granted, that is misleading because all the Cowboy simply had to do was put build a large enough lead to make their opponent's running game inconsequential. As long as they do that they are fine.

The Cowboys haven't been challenged in a game this season to the point where the running game becomes relevant.

Last season the Cowboys lost both of their overtime games. The Jaguar RB's averaged 7.1 yards a carry and the Packer RB's averaged 5.3 yards a carry. In that Packer game Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon ran the heck out of the ball. This is what a balanced offense with a good QB can do.

The season is young and the Cowboys have plenty of time and opportunity to get better and they are from the looks of it. My statement was based on their performance against the run during the previous two seasons. This game assures me they understood the issue and have been making a serious effort to address it.

I think he is very good playing the run

Excellent at the point of attack and next level pursuit skills

Forced a fumble on a run play during the game with the Jets

You must not be watching. In fact, Micah is one of our better players at sealing the edge in the run game. Last year, he played too many snaps on the edge on obvious run downs because Armstrong, et al could not consistently do so. That was after we got Hankins. Soon as we stiffened in the middle, our edges were attacked by opponents. Micah had to start playing the edge in the run to stop that. Between D-Law and Parsons are edges are not very vulnerable.
