Twitter: Jerry says Tyron Smith is "iffy" for Sunday

Isn't it Tyron's history to sit at least 3 games?

btw, if you watched the Giants - Seahawks game last night you saw what 2 injuries on the OL did to the Giants. The Cowboys had 3 backups playing against the Cardinals. The Giants wish they have the Cowboys backups, and that include Farniok who was cut.

It can happen to a young, healthy player like Diggs and it can happen to an older player with a history of injuries like Tyron. The problem is that he is rarely out there. Maybe you fail to see this as a major issue?

The issue in the cards game wasn't the o'line, it was the defense and the inability to get TD's instead of FG's.

That's why you make better plans. I'd rather have Tyron out there for the playoffs like we did last year than not have him at all. It's a long season. Players are going to miss games with injuries. You just have to try to manage it the best you can, and that includes preparing for them when you know you have a player who is going to miss some games with an injury because of his history. You also try to start working toward being a better team without him than you are with him, but that's difficult to do when you are talking about a future Hall-of-Famer.

Ideally by this point, you've brought in a backup who is being groomed to start who can step in when the All-Pro is unable to go. Then, fans aren't worrying about it as much as we are. Then, they are seeing whatever he can contribute as a good thing instead of when he is out as possible doomsday.

We essentially have done part of that. Although some of us believe he can be a better guard than tackle, Tyler Smith is the long-term answer at left tackle. The only reason we are playing Edoga at LT and keeping Tyler at LG is because this injury for Tyron is not considered long-term. I understand that reasoning, but I'm not sure that I buy into it. Edoga has proven in his years in the league that he's not an LT answer. I believe when Tyron misses time like this, how we handle that major issue is put the future out there at LT and Edoga at guard, where he has played well. That puts us in the best shape IMO to weather the inevitable injury to Tyron until he can get back out there to help us go as far as we can go.

well if this were totally true why don't they put him on IR bring him back in five weeks?? It doesn't make sense for the roster to flat out lie I think he could play if he was absolute needed but he's also trying to nurse that knee so they're maybe bring him in in an emergency I can't think of anything else or any reason why if his knee was that bad they just don't put him on IR and bring him back just before the playoff run..

and I start to look at a ASim Richards at left tackle let's sub him in with a doga get him get his feet wet cause I believe he looks a whole lot like Tyler Smith and just needs some work might be a bad team to experiment on with the 49ers but I would like to see Asim Richards get some playing time..
 
As always with the Cowboys injuries, I am puzzled by what is Tyron's injury. How did it happen, and what is his prognosis? He apparently did something to his knee in a practice over two weeks ago. Now he will miss his 3rd game. What kind of medicine do they practice in Dallas? Is it swollen? Is there a tear? A strain? How did it happen and how come they did not know within a few days it would be 3 or 4 weeks before he could play again? Lane Johnson tore a groin muscle last year and played a week later. Tyron gets a mystery knee tweak and he is out indefinitely. He must be a medical miracle because doctors have no idea how injured he is or when he will heal!

In his 1st 5 years as a Cowboy, Tyron missed 1 game.
His next 4 years he missed 3 games each year.
In his 10th year he missed 14 games (played 2)
then he missed 5 and 13 games the next 2 years.
This year he already missed half their games and it looks like he will miss 3 of 5.

The thing is, we don't know if he will be back next week or any week. With Tyron the doctors apparently shrug their shoulders.

Guys get injured. Then they get healthy and they return to the field. In Dallas guys get injured, they are questionable but missed 5 or 6 games. I get the feeling Dallas is going to hold him out until after the bye. Why don't they just say so.

It is frustrating, as you can tell from my sarcasm. But I was the most confident going into this season as I have been since the 1990s. The only thing I thought that could derail this team is injuries and coaching. With Martin apparently breaking down now we needed Tyron to step up and instead he is letting us down again. Maybe there is something to be said for staying young and letting players go once they his 32 or so.
 
I really want off this ride.we have a young rookie who looks like he can play,give him the starter reps and lets go.
 
Tyron has been "IFFY" since what 2016?

Just move Tyler to LT, and whoever at LG. Use Tyron as the ST.

It just never ends with this guy. I love him and he was a stud when playing, but you can't rely on him at all.

It's time to star getting Richard more reps in practice. I don't trust Edoga.
 
I don't get why they won't play (Tyler) Smith on the outside and Edoga as LG? Or Bass?
