Today in history, Meredith to Hayes - 95 Yards

Wish they would play that stuff in real speed. Just for us who never got to see some of the legends live.

Gosh I loved watching those two make plays like that. Bob Hayes was unstoppable in those days.

Bullet was the reason I became a Cowboy fan. I wanted to be an Olympic Gold Medalist and a Dallas Cowboy because of him.
Bullet Bob was my first sports hero and first favorite Cowboys player. I had his poster on my wall as a kid. Got to see him play in person three times. Once at the Cotton Bowl and twice at Texas Stadium. He was so much faster than those old films indicate.

The Bob Hayes Invitational is one of the premier high school track meets in the state of Florida. We would go there every year and it was always a treat when Bullet himself would be there!

57 years ago today!

As an old timer, seeing this really warms my heart and brings back memories.

So cool to see such history. November 13, 1966. Those field goal posts were funky looking.

Notice how much the field goal post changed only 4 years later on November 4, 1970 when Tom Dempsey kicked his at-that-time world record 63 yard field goal which stayed an NFL record for 43 years until it was broken by Broncos FG kicker Matt Prater when he made a 64 yard FG on December 8, 2013 in Denver.

In 4 years, the field goal post drastically changed its look to something very similar to what we have today.
