Notice how the announcer was just bland on the call. None of this over the top excitement or screaming. But he could have been more than mono tone about it.
Then Hayes just flips the ball away and heads back to the sideline.

No over the top outrageous celebrations.

That’s how it should be done. Classy and respectful of the opponent. Hayes acted like he’d been there before.

I remember that Emmitt said his dad told him. When you score a TD, act like you been there before. Basically told him do not overdo it with some stupid celebration.
Who to blame: Billy “white shoes” Johnson or the ‘85 Bears?

White Shoes, actually pretty lame compared to now.

I remember one coach telling his defense do not let Michael Irvin score because he celebrates way too much. Then the crowd gets fired up and the team.
So what did Irvin do right away, gets a TD. I think he had several that game. It may have been against the Eagles.

I remember reading a book about Lombardi and even HE mentioned how much Bullet changed things. There are very few players in the history of the NFL that actually truly changed the game.

Bullet Bob was my first sports hero and first favorite Cowboys player. I had his poster on my wall as a kid. Got to see him play in person three times. Once at the Cotton Bowl and twice at Texas Stadium. He was so much faster than those old films indicate.
Saw him at Yankee stadium and it was unbelievable how fast he was against the other players live. He was the fastest football player I have ever seen.
