I haven't double checked the numbers, but quick Google searches showed that NBC is paying him $6 million a year as an analyst. Another search had him averaging $6 million a year as the Cowboys coach.

First thought: He'd be nuts to leave an easy TV gig for the constant demands and pressures as an NFL coach for the same money.
Second thought: He sucked as a coach and isn't that great as an analyst.
Third thought: I suck at a lot of things. Where can I find someone to pay me $6 mill to do anyone of them?

Partially, yeah. He never got better as a coach. He was the same day one as when let go. Coaches have to improve every bit as much as players do.

JG’s offense was way to content letting him run 9 routes in to double teams all day.

Basically they used him as a decoy for years.
