I definitely noticed the adjustment at halftime. I’m not sure why it didn’t happen sooner.
Bland's played well this season so he's earned some leeway. I'm sure Quinn thought he was going to snap out of it. I'm just glad he decided not to wait any longer.

Not exactly DPOY material if your team has to have someone else cover a guy cause you can’t

They probably wanted to see if their NFL record setter could shake out of it .. but at least they did make
adjustment at half time instead of not at all.

- But rest assure, the teams that have the Tyrek Hill, AJ Brown Devontae Smith, Waddle, Diggs. Ayu , etc. they
are for surely gonna go after Bland more than ever - after seeing his struggles vs Seattle.

- And they are gonna design/scheme it to where he has to turn and defend " upfield " where he
seems challenged ... and lesser plays where he's driving " forward " (where's he's INT stud)

Yeah Brown looks bigger than he is. I was concerned with someone DKs size and how our guys would handle him. I think Diggs is more suited for those guys if he’s healthy.
Brown is an absolute monster just like Metcalf. We need to start drafting bigger wideouts.

You want to see if your guy can settle down and course correct.

But Metcalf is a veteran whose big AND fast, somebody Bland probably haven't seen too much of since he took over.

When Bland showed he couldn't correct it, then you make the change.

WG always coming with the facts.

BTW Metcalf is 6'4 and 235lbs. AJ brown is 6'1 and 225 lbs. Both are a load at WR but Metcalf's TE size and blazing speed was an issue.

Gotta be able to stop the run with just the base front 6 and allow the safeties to always provide help in coverage. Mazi Time!!

I'll tell you what I saw in that game, there were some passes that Hurts threw, and the 49'ers corner back was about maybe 6 or 8 yards behind Hurts receiver. If he tries to float a ball like that...it's Int time for the Cowboys. Both teams QB's were trying to sling it around...that's not going to work with this defense.

he is dangerous, and that may be the plan. they are not similar in terms of size though, dk is a full three inches taller, same weight plus those wheels. we're also familiar with aj brown and have already done a decent job on him
Yeah, Metcalf really overwhelmed him.
Metcalf's combination of size and speed was obviously a big problem for Bland. So having Gilmore shadow him makes sense.

AJ Brown is similar to Metcalf in terms of size. May not be as fast as Metcalf but still very dangerous. We may see Gilmore shadow him as well since he presents the same problems as Metcalf
The irony of last Thursday's night game:
Where was this Metcalf ("Megatron 2.0" as some CZer labeled him) the first 3 months of the season?
3 TDs v. the Cowboys secondary; yet___
3 - THREE - TDs scored in the first 3 months...1 in September, 1 in October, 1 in November (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) before his Moss-like performance in the last game of the month.
Metcalf only missed one game out of the first 11 in 2023.
15.8 yards per catch was very good -- but only had 43 receptions (678 yards).
Will keep an eye out on how he (along with Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba) do in Seattle remaining 5 games to help get a playoff spot.

Because Bland was playing better in the 2nd. Gave up a short TD but it is very hard to defend those quick, short passes.

The thing I like about Gilmore is he rarely gets thrown at it seems. Reminds me of Terrence Newman in that regard. Not gonna wow us with a crazy amount of INTs, but I’m always like he must be doing something right if they keep trying Bland and not him.

DK is a unicorn. They don't make wrs like him very often. It's just a tough match up and him and Geno were on fire.

Yeah thats the other thing. Most of those passes Bland was close but Geno just place the ball very well and DK made the plays.

Bland was having problems with their little and fast guys too.
Bland isn't fast enough to trail fast receivers upfield. Donovan Wilson has had a poor year too, so sometimes the help over the top is questionable.
While it's a very bad plan to throw outs against Bland, he's not a world beating CB. Teams will figure that out. The Seahawks have shown the way.
I don't mean this as a knock on Bland, but we've probably already passed Peak Bland. Teams won't give him a chance on short outs anymore, but they will run him deep.
