DeMarcus Lawrence was the highest-graded player in this game, and the only one to surpass an 80.0 player grade. He failed to record a pressure, though there were very few pass rush reps in this game. Lawrence made him mark in run defense, easily leading the team there with a 92.1 run defense grade.

I cant be the only one that finds this surprising. Never seemed the edge got set all game. God for Mazi with a 70 grade.

Again not mazi fault…. He’s only one guy. Even if he’s taking on two defenders…. The lbs have to make plays. They got beat on cutbacks all game failed any type of contain.

Mazi Smith received a lot of unjustified criticism in this game for simply not being Johnathan Hankins, but the rookie was one of the few defenders that actually showed up for this game. He was reliable in run defense and tallied two pressures on the day, as well as recording his first career sack.

He is finally getting ahead of the learning curve. Give him a good off season and he will be significantly better next summer.

Good news on Davis. Higher PFF than both Mazie and Hankins this year. Not good, but not a step down. For a PS player, I'll take it. Especially for his first game on the field.

Carl Davis was called up from the practice squad to relieve Mazi Smith as the secondary nose tackle, but he didn’t fare well. Despite being a large human, listed at 335 pounds, Davis was constantly getting pushed around.

I remember when Micah came into the league, he was praised for his versatility. People didn’t consider him a primary pass rusher, so he wasn’t held to the same standards as TJ Watt because it was assumed he could play the run and drop into coverage too. Now he’s been a liability against the run and is solely a pass rusher, yet he still gets praised for his versatility.

What I saw: Cook repeatedly bounced runs to the outside, and no one was there. I don’t know if it’s a schematic issue or a player issue.

I don't know if that is considered a good rating, but not surprised to see Pollard so high vs his peers. Dude was running with some authority. Sort of thought that running was going to be more of a focus with Malik called up. I guess they panicked and abandoned it with Buffalo taking that early lead.

I think the biggest reason for that is that the cowboys aren’t using him for other roles. They are just lining him up along the line and telling him to get into the backfield.

Parsons at DE is a liability in run defense, and has been every time some team trucks the defense. Continuing to line him up there in run situations makes no sense.

Put him off the ball, inside or outside, in run situations and put an actual DE in there. Otherwise, expect teams to keep running at him and the (non-existent) edge.
