Why are you wishing for help from other clubs? This team will let you down time and time again. They don’t have the finishing instinct. This team will get its annual one and done embarrassing playoff loss. Nothing has changed.
we won in 1995 due to help

This is what happens when you rely too much on a couple guys that are on the tail end of their careers and don't address the need to build quality depth through the draft or free agency.

The offensive backfield alignment was awkward. Luepke was the only RB but instead of lining up 5-7 years back he lined up about 3 yards behind Dak as of he was playing the traditional FB position with a HB 2-4 yards behind him.

It's one thing to try a FB dive from that depth if you're trying to sneak one past the defense because they expect the HB to get the ball. When you run the play out of this alignment with one back on the field you're not fooling anybody. The decreased depth just creates a smaller window for the QB/RB exchange and increases the chances of something going wrong. Especially when the two players don't have a lot of reps executing that exchange.

It was very poor play design.

  1. I really hope every fan who posted “It’s over; This team sucks; I’ve given up on this year” will refrain from posting until the offseason.
  2. The OL is a mess; even when TEs chipped Chubb inside where the OT could get hands on him, he still abused them. The other edge guy, #43, also had big plays all night. Our dink and dunk game sucks because no one blocks well on the second level, and we can’t run our downfield game consistently when we have a backup in the game.
  3. I find it easy to blame Quinn for this overrated defense that has been exposed again and again, but honestly, the defense lacks critical talent. LVE was always the only real LB on the team; that’s so sad, no thumpers. Your entire run defense shouldn’t depend on 1 player, Hankins. The pass rush has been basically stalled because we don’t have guys like Bosa, Garrett, and Hutchinson who can play the run and still convert to the pass rush with power. When our guys have to focus on helping against the run, they bring little to the pass. Both Bell and Clarke have given admirable efforts, but they are both JAGs at this point in their careers; neither is an ILB. Parsons game is limited against the best teams; he needs a stud DT who demands double teams to play his game freely.

  4. If our OL and the defense (Hankins) is at full strength, then maybe we have a chance to be successful. But that’s poor roster building when you don’t have adequate backups for players who aren’t even superstars.

The defense kept the dolphins in check most of the game. They needed more help from the offense.
Those two drives starting inside the 5 killed us. Even more so because the LT was like a mattadore. Dude went to block Chubb and then was like nah.....multiple times.

I mean it’s what we do. I actually would have been surprised if we had won.

All I want for Christmas, is a new fan base. For the most part. They had us losing two minutes into the first quarter.
I want a team that wins a road game against a good team.

And one that can advance in the playoffs. Like every other team in the nfc besides your beloved Cowboys, Lions and Washington.

Looking objectively, I would say this game was 60% on the offense overall with a bit of cred for driving for the go ahead TD
The rest is on the D for not being able to make the stop when it most mattered
And for giving up ALL THOSE LONG DRIVES

Offense could have put the game away for sure. But the offense did come though, finally, at the end. One stop and we win. And they folded like an accordion. It’s not either/or. Both sides failed at times. As always it’s a team effort.

He is the Leon Lett of this Super Bowl winning season.

Bonehead play during a holiday afternoon game that hands the Miami Dolphins a win.

They go on to not win again (Ravens, Bills, playoffs).

And we go on to never lose. With McCarthy telling San Francisco "we will win the ball game" in the NFCCG and the Bills being the sacrificial lamb in the Super Bowl, after beating us in the regular season.

Of course this means Luepke must embarrass himself again in the Super Bowl but he is a team player. He'll take another for the team. It's the way he rolls.
