Did they explain why the deer kill themselves at the beginning of the show?
I am trying to go through all the nonsense at the end to see if anything fits as an explanation. As of this minute I cannot think of anything. I completely forgot about that scene. Maybe the writers did too? It would not surprise me. I think a few loose ends were not explained.

Not to be picky, but I think they were caribou, but I could be wrong.

No comments on the season finale? I thought the final episode was a huge letdown. What an awful conclusion to an otherwise good series. I am beginning to think the Sopranos writers were on to something. It might be better to just go to black screen than try to come up with a clever ending to a good series. Leaving the ending to my imagination might have been better than having to sit through what the writers of True Detective came up with.

Funny how Clark goes outside for about 2 minutes and becomes a meat popsicle but Jodie Foster falls through the ice and is in freezing water for about 20 seconds before she is pulled out then splayed out on the ice for another couple of minutes in wet clothes but somehow manages to survive. And by the way, how did she manage to find the one weak spot in the ice which in itself was something of a scientific miracle considering the sub-zero temperatures and wind conditions. Sometimes writers try to get too clever in these shows and they just look stupid, IMO.

I liked the season 8/10, but I give the ending a 3.
I do not mind the main explanation for the ending. Other parts were left in the air a tad.
However I think they would have been better served with a full 8 episodes to tie it all together better.

The ending reminded me of the final season of Rome on HBO where they rushed it to try to finish it.

I mean that is a type of deer
They did not explain that at all.

They also did not explain the one eyed polar bear.

However even though they did not explain it, I think it does have something to do with the mythology of that area and its people.

No idea about the deer but the bear was Kali’s(Evangeline) spirit animal.

The bear was Foster's dead son's stuffed animal. It was his way of contacting her. Both the stuffed animal and the polar bear had one eye.

Just watched last night. Finale was a definitely a let down. The explanation came out of nowhere

They definitely rushed that finale. It's like they painted themselves into a corner and couldn't figure out how to end it. If you go back and look at everything that led up to the finale it makes no sense.

I liked 4. Didn't mind the finale. The Alaskan setting overall was very cool and the cast did a great job.

Also just got renewed for season 5

The bear was looking for a way off the show because it was embarrassed to be part of the ending.

Alright, finally just wrapped up the show myself. Yeah, I'm with the majority here, I was not a fan.

I was really hoping to like it, but overall, it just didn't work for me.

I'm one episode in, and after reading the comments, I don't think I'll waste my time finishing it. Only to be let down. No thank you.
