Should Cowboys bring C Connor Williams back?

We currently have Brock Hoffman. He's ok but not as good as Connor Williams.

I’d bring him back for the right price. I’m a big fan of trench players and anything to beef up the trenches would be good. Ideally I’d like a 1-3 year contract ALA Terrell Owens were it’s basically 3 one year deals. So if we brought him back for this season and he was still hobbled we can cut him without killing the cap. When healthy he played fairly well for the Phins.

This means Connor Williams won't be able to play until most likely some time in late November. With this in mind and how Connor Williams is now a free agent, the Miami Dolphins got tired of waiting and hired Titans free agent Center, Aaron Brewer. This leaves Connor Williams available and on the outside looking in.

With the Cowboys currently in need of a good quality starting Center (Connor Williams was one of the best Centers in the NFL these past 2 seasons), should they bring Connor Williams back, offer him around 7-8 mil/season and patiently hope he fully recovers in time to play around Thanksgiving time?

I think we are targeting center in the first round. Either we'll take JPJ or Barton or trade down for Frazier if they are gone. This is no different than Dallas targeting Tyler Smith a couple of years ago and Mazi last year. In the meantime, they will try to sell that they don't have to take a center because they have Hoffman.

The lack of availability until late Nov. makes that one tough and he may remain unsigned until training camp when teams have a better time table on his recovery/return time. If he's still available later on in free agency and meets the Cowboys "bargain" requirement why not consider him?

That’s why I have no problem with any player trying to get as much money as possible. I also have no problems when a team cuts a player. It’s a business. In this business the employer is not obligated to keep someone around when they cost too much compared to their production. I also don’t think an employee should ever give a hometown, uptown, downtown or any type of discount on their contract. Especially when their are other companies that will pay what they are worth.
