I'm just going to point something out here. Dallas is going to have something like $80m in capspace next year if Dak becomes a free agent. They would be the most attractive destination for any QB.

If Dak really wants to hold Dallas' feet to the fire and ask for $60m+AAV making him the highest paid QB, Dallas can let him prove it and offer the highest contract to him in the offseason next year. Maybe Tad wants Dak to leave Dallas but I'm not so sure Dak would turn down the highest contract in the NFL and move away from his home next offseason.

At this point, it seems almost a foregone conclusion that Dak is going to play this year at $60m and become a free agent. Its not the end of the world.

Oh, and no way that he holds out into the regular season. Dallas can start clawing back signing bonus and restructure money if he pulls that. Like, the team still has $50m of that they could demand back.

Until training camp??????? Is this true?? Why wait? I mean, what's the point ........this far past free agency and the draft? If this is true, they may as well give France a blank check coz the only leverage left will be if injury costs Dak to miss most of the season.
Why wait? More like, why bother....he's hitting free agency unless we blow him out of the water.
Dak's had all the leverage, since the last contract was signed.

Much ado about nothing. Team Dak already has their number in mind and that likely won't change unless some monster deal is given to someone else, bumping the market. Dak would be leaving money on the table to not accept a fair deal this year regardless if it is now or in August.

The way things are being handled across the entire team spectrum seems to be telling the story. I don't think the team feels any pressure to give Dak a new contract. Dak has no leverage because of that.

Everything they are doing screams that they are willing to watch Dak lumber off to a new team, and they probably have hope that Lance is going to show out in camp, making it even easier.

Right way to handle it or wrong, I don't know, but it sure seems the winds are shifting.

It makes zero sense.......not to mention a huge risk. If I were France, I'd be asking for $60M+ or we walk......

If Dak wants much more than $100 million guaranteed new money, they might move on. Guess we will find out if they feel like Dak is expendable in the summer.

Everyone saying that Dak has tons of leverage is dead wrong, unless the FO is dead set on Dak being the starting QB for another 4 years at least. Dak stands to lose some very high paying endorsement deals if he tries another squad in 2025-the other team will be expecting him to produce with a likely lesser squad too. Not sure which other teams would be potential suitors next offseason. New York Giants, Seattle, Minnesota, Tennessee, Denver, and Las Vegas. I suppose Pittsburgh, but I doubt they sign anyone for big money (not how they operate). I don’t see the possibility at any other squad-and I also cannot see any of those squads spending huge cash on an aging QB that looks afraid in big games in the postseason (when the game’s outcome is still unknown).

Wow

They are the best at getting entertainment value, bar none. The suspense is palpable, genuinely no idea which way this will go. Holdout? Franchise tag next year? Full record breaking extension? Trade? Dak walks clean after 2024?

This is crazy. Dak has been extraordinarily consistent for 8 years. Nothing is going to change between now and August. It feels like the Cowboys front office is playing Chicken with themselves.

But who is gonna be a free agent QB next year? Who is ever a bigtime free agent QB? Aside from Cousins every 6 years, you can’t get QBs that way.

That would just make the forthcoming decisions easier
But he won't holdout.
He will show up and say all the right things.
Put up top 10 passing stats then hit free agency and make 70M a year.
And Dallas will get an R3 comp pick in 2026. Yay!

Dallas will have CeeDee and Micah both wanting to be the highest paid at their positions and no QB.
Fun!!!

And so easy!

Dak won't hold out and they can't tag or trade him.
It's extension or free agency.

Personally, I think Dallas is going into a rebuild. They don't want to announce it to drive off fans but I suspect that is the direction. They are pretty much the opposite of "all in".

Hopefully Dallas gets the next Brock Purdy and not the next Quincy Carter as part of that re tool.

Some of ya'll still think it's happening, huh? lolololol
What you wish for and what you think will happen are not the same things. You are trying to wish it into reality that they don't extend Dak. I think you're going to be disappointed.

There is absolutely no point in extending Dak as we have too many holes to be contenders on top of Dak not being the type of QB to carry a team in the playoffs. But I have so little faith in the Jones' I still think they'll do it. You trust them for some reason.

What have they done to earn that from you? Nothing. They folded to Dak last time after tagging him twice, they'll fold again.

Imagine after 8 seasons you give a guy a "prove it" deal lololololololol

If he's not worth is after 8 YEARS then he's not worth it after 9.

Be smart, guys.
we just need the best NFL team ever built to carry his choking carcass across the finish line. "Jerry can do it"

lmao, like Jerry has never done anything other than hire Jimmy to carry his old perv butt across the line.
